Same here, sounded like late 80s, and what helps it more is the electric piano sound. Probably wouldn't get that vibe if left on regular piano sound.

Bro you are the fuckin man. The silent hand in empowering keyboard players. Thanks to you, tons of bands and ensembles will be born (and are being born) which will help evolve music creation and new music genres. Sad thing is most people probably won't mention that you were their main teacher. But I just want you to know that I and other brothers do. God bless bro, let me buy you a beer sometime

What a coincidence! I've been thinking a lot about this chord lately (or maybe I should say chords, because, as you mentioned, we could also consider this 7sus2sus4 chord as a Major add9add13 chord or as a Min7 add11 chord). I called it the «Wonder chord» because i noticed that the great Stevie Wonder uses it to a great extent -and also because is a wonderful chord. So, i recommend checking out songs like “You're the sunshine of my life”, “My Cherrie Amour”, and pretty much any Stevie Wonder Song. Fito Paez is also a great musician who uses this chord a lot. Great video, as always.

To me instead of a "Big Sus" chord it looks more like an enriched eleventh chord in which you separate by an octave the bottom I-V from the top VII-IX-XI and you insert in between the duplicated ninth and eleventh degrees. And as usual in an eleventh chord, the third of the chord is omitted to avoid the dissonance between the third and the ninth. Does this make sense to you?
@juandavidgonzalez4684
@juandavidgonzalez4684 4 жыл бұрын
You're essentially right. That's what it is. However, I think the problem with that way of conceiving the chord is that presupposes that it's a Major chord, when it can also be a minor chord without the third, and there is no dissonance between the minor third and the eleven. In C, for example, you could use a diatonic G7sus2sus4 (potentially a dominant 7 chord), or you could use a diatonic A7sus2sus4 (potentially a minor chord). I think it's useful to conceive the chord as its own type of chord: is not minor, is not major, it's sus. Let me know your thoughts about what I said. And sorry if I didn't explain myself very well. English is not my native language.

@@juandavidgonzalez4684 thanks for your reply. I never heard before about a sus2sus4 chord and I will think about that. You are right that in a minor chord, the eleventh chord CAN include the third because it is not dissonant. But the chord remains an eleventh chord and without the third you cannot distinguish between major and minor. And even with your "Big Sus" naming convention you cannot distinguish between major and minor.
@MangoldProject
@MangoldProject 4 жыл бұрын
No. When I think about an 11th chord, it has a character: minor 11th, major 11th, dominant, etc. Sometimes, to avoid dissonance, the 11th degree might be raised (especially in a major 11th, where it's raised: #11), but the third will still be retained.
