To be clear, I don't want to make it sound like I'm ragging on lower-tier teams or nations with less experience in the IIHF. I love that they are playing and enjoying hockey worldwide and I fully support them. It's just funny to me that the scores can get so out of hand so easily.

According to the original box score of the 82-0 crushage, 9 goals were scored within 10 seconds of the previous goal. In this past NHL regular season, this happened 8 times, *total*. Really it shows the parity in the two government's attitudes towards women's athletics at the time.

The 47-0 of 1949 and the Bulgaria vs Slovakia reminds me of the Australia 31-0 American Samoa in soccer for a World Cup qualifier. Which to me is crazy to think about since the disparity in hockey is so much greater than in soccer and Australia is a fringe team in international soccer.

surprised there was no mention of the fact that in that same 1998 tournament with Japan, there was a game between South Korea and Thailand where SK won 92-0, and more for that matter, there were 9 games out of the 15 that were played that the winning team won by 20 goals or more, it was just ludicrous. 406 total goals scored in 15 games... absolutely wild haha

Blowouts are interesting in hockey, but the more there are, the less exciting games are to watch. That 22-0 Krygystan win over Malaysia couldn't have been watched by that many people. I'm honestly a bit surprised by Singapore in this list. Back when I was there you could count the number of available ice surfaces for the whole nation without running out of fingers on one hand (it was 3 IIRC). To see how brutally they slapped around poor Malaysia is a bit shocking. Also, congratulations to those two ASEAN nations for making it to the IIHF with national teams! Edit: Just got back from taking a look at the MAS - SG game, the first goal is 8 seconds in, there's a tripping penalty 13 seconds in, and then I saw 2 forecheckers on the PK hold 5 players in their zone and make the breakout a nightmare. You never see anything like this in the NHL!

Future Canuck Vasily Podkolzin recorded a hat trick and four assists, Flames prospect Nikolaev notched one goal, and Jets Prospect Kyazev got four goals and four assists. Shots were 9 to 113. Rough one for the Turkish.

Watching the London Knights this season, I have seen a few Crushages. The most notable is a game against the Owen Sound Attack, a perpetual lower tier team we swept in last year's first round of the playoffs, merely a speedbump to our trip the finals. The game was postponed a little bit due to snow delaying Owen Sound's bus, with the sight of bored knights players playing soccer in the player's tunnel, and them hanging out in team wear on the bench. Then the game starts, less than 2 minutes into the game, Max McCue scores first, and the stage is set for a massive blowout, no, a crushage. That goal, that first goal, was the GAME WINNING GOAL. It was a 10-0 SHUTOUT. My arms were hurting from celebrating the goals, the Arena was emptying out in the second period since the crowd knew it was going to be a blowout anyways. There was 5 goals... in the first period! This was during London's massive 14 game win streak, which was part of a bigger 24 game point streak, and during Easton Cowan's absolutely incredible 36 game Point Streak (Which still hasn't ended if you count the two playoff games the Knights played so far). Other crushages include: 10-3 against Kitchener, 8-1 against Kingston, 9-2 against Sarnia, 8-2 also against Owen Sound, 9-2 against Flint, and 10-7 against Windsor. There was also an 8-2 by the Soo Greyhounds against us, but we don't count that one. The London Knights won this season with 104 points, good for the Hamilton Spectator Trophy for Regular Season Champs, they also had the best Penalty Kill, Best Power Play and Fewest goals against

I have a game that I think perfectly encaptulates the Leafs-Canadiens rivalry. It was chippy, there were a lot of questionable hits, controversary on both sides, exciting action from start to finish, and a beautiful OT winner. You should break down this game, which took place on October 22, 2011. Even though both teams ended up having bad seasons, that game was definitely a highlight and remains one I enjoy going back to every now and then.

I am from Slovakia and I do remember hearing about that match. Somewhere on YT is also a highlight. Funniest thing is that announcer is too slow for number of goals scored. Like it is 9-0 and he is still announcing 6th goal. In the 90s when senior Slovak team was qualifying from C division (because after split up of Czechoslovakia Czechs gone directly to elite group but Slovakia needed to proove itself - riddiculously imagine Peter Stastny and Miroslav Satan plsying against Romania), there was a match also with Bulgaria that was like 20:0. Very funny times. I even remember matches in elite WC between Norway and Germany that ended like 12:3 or Slovakia Japan 10:1.

As someone who actually watches degenerate international hockey (I maintained a massive spreadsheet last season for all IIHF WC tournaments - i.e. WC, U20, U18... fun fact, the biggest crushage was Australia 28-0 South Africa in the D-III World Juniors), the Kygryzstan games in particular deserve some greater context. In 2019, they entered the WC program for the first time in Div III-B, and blew away their opponents with ease. However, before their final game against the UAE, one of their players was deemed ineligible and thus their prior wins were all vacated. This sent them to Div IV as a relegated team, which was set to launch for 2020. But of course there was no WC in 2020, and only the top flight played in 2021. So they finally get their chance and maul everyone en route to gold in 2022 with a +62 GD in 4 games. However... that was before the Russia/Belarus bans and planned newcomers for 2023 shoving basically everyone in that division (save for Kuwait, who finished bottom, and the Philippines, who intended to participate but withdrew) up to 3B to backfill. Which...essentially meant that Kyrgyzstan were playing the same fucking teams they just played, just with Kuwait swapped out for Bosnia-Herzegovina (who got relegated) and Hong Kong (who had withdrawn in 2022). Oh by the way that ineligible player? Actually turned out he was eligible but the IIHF never went back on it, and he still plays for them today. His name is Alexander Titov and he had 18 points, making him the third top scorer on the team. (Top scorer Mamed Seifulov had 28 points, including a seven goal game against Malaysia and four goals against Iran.)
