Chance the Rapper had everything going for him in earlier 2010's. His mixtape ACID RAP is deemed as one of the greatest mixtapes EVER by many hip-hop enthusiasts, including myself. Once he dropped Coloring Book in 2016 - things only seemed like they would be going up for him. However, after getting married, and dropping one of the worst hiphop albums of all time.. he absolutely disappeared off the face of the planet. Today, we go through all the events that made Chance a star, to how he landed himself in the position he finds himself in today.
Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe if you enjoyed!

one thing i have learned from youtubers drama, is there is a VIABLE strat in legit ignoring every ounce of negative commentary sent your way. like dont respond to ANY of it and keep pumping out content like nothing ever happened. sure, you will shed fans, but you won't shed EVERYONE, and those who stay will be very loyal and more easily monetizable. chance could literally just shut up on socials, but start dropping content/music consistently and probably do really well compared to most, and certainly could make a living from it.

Songs and albums don't deserve praise just because they're "positive". You're simplifying what happened in a disingenuous way. The album was thrash regardless of how positive it was and the way he handled the backlash is what really killed his music career. People didn't dislike it *just* because it was "positive". He was clearly a beloved rapper before the album dropped so saying it "hating for the sake of hating" is ridiculous and pretty much always a cope when used as a defense.

I'm literally appalled at people shitting on Chance for being POSITIVE?!!! Imagine having children and opening your mouth to shame an influential artist for being "too positive", in a genre that is so plagued by violence, that not one single year goes by that a rapper isn't murdered. Like you have a million slaughter house gangster rappers to pick an album from and you're dissing the one rapper who grew up in ChiRaq and doesn't want to perpetuate death in a city his family lives in, IMAGINE. I'm convinced that a significant amount of people have been given over to a reprobate mind....

It’s our community. We thrive off of negativity and bull💩! Shame but true. We promote negativity like that’s the way to go about your life. We can never stick together and prosper. I listen to the drill and stuff but my music also goes beyond that. I can separate the real from the fake. Hope Chance and more positive rappers can offset some of the nonsense that our kids are force fed on a daily basis.

It’s insane that an artist can drop one bad project, which major criticism is it was TOO POSITIVE, and people are ready to write him off completely like one record can’t change everything. And Chance has shown himself capable of making those records…

As someone from Chicago's south side, I found it refreshing to see people like Chance coming from my neighborhood. However, the hate he receives for being "too positive" confirms that we, as a society, are addicted to the drama-filled side of Chicago. Chance was showing that not every person from Chicago's south side embraces foolishness. We had King Von, Durk, and Chief Keef - three, from my experience, who were certified criminals. I wanted to see a balance, and I believed that Chance was necessary. The only downfall was his album, which talked about his strong-faced wife. What city in America fully wanted to be known for violence? and you do know that type of publicity drives the economy which drives away the tourists and there goes the jobs. We don't want to end up like Detriot we want to thrive like New York and Los Angeles and haters like Joe Budden and Wale prove that my city has influence cause I just saw a video of people in all places in Alaska acting like O-block.

The huge side step from his 2 first albums to Mr. Positive pushed me way far. It's like a drug dealer giving you some fire shit then starts lecturing you about religion and doing positive shit for the community, like completely ruins the high you got from him.

It’s breaks my heart that he fell off the way he did. I really loved his music. I typically want artists to enjoy life and not LIVE to satisfy fans, but it’s like he blew up, released amazing music, fell in love, and just said fuck ALLLLL if his fans.

He's honestly a crazy talented rapper, even beyond just the fusion of rap an gospel on Coloring Book. Just listen to his verses on "Heaven Only Knows" with Towkio and "Hello" with Busta. He should just say "fuck the haters" and continue to do his thing.
