i think the MAIN character is Duncan Idaho.....he is the ONLY character who appears in EVERY book

Yeah Duncan is the main character, he embodies the actual theme of the dune series which is “survival is the ability to swim into strange waters.” Survival/adaptation.

@@davidtatro7457 i don't know exactly what you mean by that the main character is determined by the author, Frank Herbert......who i can't ask.....maybe he does actually say who the main character is of the series, but oh well Leto II could merely engineer, others seeing an importance of Duncan, if we are talking about in universe sorry to say, but i am a hyper literal mind.....when i am talking about main character, i am talking about the saga from the outside, as a series a books

Herbert wrote Duncan's story as largely being a product of Leto II's countless ghola regenerations of him as well as his policy of breeding those gholas to women with select genes he was trying to advance. The Bene Gesserit later took over this process, but it was Leto who set it all in motion over thousands of years and engineered it to continue after his death.

Paul usually makes an appearance in some form in every book. Not always as a voice in a head, just mentioned in the history so often, Duncan's the only alive one though, and even could argue he's not the same person, each time

I always found it facinating that in the end all the sandtrout that are going to become worms are a little bit Leto. He spread his conciousness around in his entire body so are they all sentient in a way? How can they end up the giant worms in the same ecosystem? The book story was quite depressing, very few people are ever happy. If you just saw the movies you don't know the real Chani.

Yes, it was entirely necessary and that’s why he is the all-time favorite of any of the characters in my opinion and honestly was more of a “hero “to the people than Paul ever was.

I really liked how the bene tlelaxu (basically the male version of bene jesserit) tried to create their own kwisats haderach but the person killed them self this shows that the KH operation is really dangerous and has no room for mistakes

FH was contracted to write 6 books, if I remember correctly. He wanted to end after GEoD, but honoured the contract.

He was going to write at least one more book but his wife died. She went to college for writing also I believe she helped him with the books which is why the women are more dynamic than many male writers.

I find Siona to be an arrogant person who doesn’t seem too think anything threw, I know Leto had all this planned out but to go and kill the god emperor without having a plan of who to make sure the empire stays stable and not have a famine and civil war happen. And all this because she thinks Leto is evil but yet she thought she would be a better leader. Well she saw how that turned out
