"Saturday Night Live" has been a weekend TV institution for decades, and the sketch comedy juggernaut is showing no signs of letting up. This doesn't mean SNL's ride has always been a smooth one. With hundreds of cast members moving through the show over the years, and weekly hosts and musical performers to juggle, certain controversies are bound to emerge. And emerge they have. Sometimes SNL has given us sketches that are tone-deaf or blatantly offensive. Other times hosts and guests step out of line. In some cases, the audience even gets in on the pandemonium. There's a lot of awkward moments to cover, so strap in. Here are the biggest SNL controversies of all time.

@@Blunt_Man I heard he's been hitting smaller venues, just getting by however he can. His routines now tend to OWN his "dirty old man" reputation so he doubles down on the shock value of his comedy, for better or worse. And the thing is, he never denied the accusations and apologized immediately, but this was insufficient in our age of cancel culture where all sins are of equal measure and consequence. For how badly this has effected him, you'd think he'd done something outrageously illegal and then said "so what?" like Cosby.
@Blunt_Man
@Blunt_Man 2 жыл бұрын
@@strawcatz I just don't get it. I'm not a lawyer but I don't think him asking permission to do something creepy is a crime. Weird, yes, illegal, I don't think so. I like what Sarah Silverman said, "that was just Louie, never made anyone do anything, just a weird thing that he enjoyed if someone said yes. I had to tell him no a few times, other times I'd say yes cuz I thought it was funny." We're told all women are strong and independent yet apparently not being able to say no and him being a big name in the industry suddenly made him some horrible monster smh. Uhh, how about they learn to say no instead of blaming him for them being shy! I'll have to see if I can find some of his new stand up cuz I love the dirty Louis CK! I'm glad to hear he didn't cave into the hype and start doing some lame PG-13 type material or something! Doubling down was probably the best choice honestly.

Controversial statement: Black face and dressing up as a black man and making an impression on a comedy show is NOT the same thing. It is still making people think of us all as separate when we are just human, all of us. Men can impersonate women, women can impersonate men, black dress up as white and vice versa. It's not controversial just because back in the day things where done because of racism. I understand. I do. But people need to let it go.

This should just be called SNL. Honestly the show is about getting ratings. People want to watch Awful things. Like rubbernecking at automobile accident... like watching anything with Jimmy Fallon.

Playing a character, or doing an impression of someone who happens to be another color, or NOT racist! Only stupid ignorant people would think that! It is absolutely NO different that any other person or character portraying someone of the SAME color. Or even drag!! People need to understand what really hurts them and what is just something to make a big deal over for attention!
