A few weeks ago I sat at a grade crossing as a train with 6 locos on the head end and 4 in the middle went past. Took a solid 15 minutes for the train to pass through the crossing. It was nuts. Reminded me of you. :)

My brother works for the Union Pacific Railroad and one day when he came home he anded me some paperwork of a train that went up the "spline line" here in Minnesota/Iowa. He said you gotta see this and the train was infact a 3 milemlong train, I don't remember how many cars it was but it was almost 16000ft in length and I was just shocked. He did not run this train but it was cut into smaller sections of which he got half of it but the fact that there was just this 3 mile long train makes ya wonder how the Railroads are even getting things done. Its actually even more amazing that more things aren't going wrong every single day.

with remote dispatch you can actually have someone else (who doesn't even need to own derail valley) line switches and even run locomotives via their browser. me and my friend did it once, it may be the closest we will ever get to multiplayer in derail valley.

We all know that when Railroader comes out that he's going to do something similar but with steam.

22:59 That number actually indicates the amount of couplings from the paired locomotive, plus = in front, minus = behind. So, when it says -67, that's the sixty-seventh coupling back from the locomotive, including it's own rear coupler. Open couplers don't count, meaning that's actually 68, minus the five other locomotives, which equals 63 cars! A.K.A a *_REASONABLE_* number of cars(take a hint, Class Ones)

I believe the Southern railway had several SD series and some GP series locomotives that were set up with control stand setup to run long hood forward and for awhile it was debated of they did that for safety or operational reasons like pulling power. I think some of theese locomotives still operate i just don't where on the NS system now.

Imagine being a person at one of the railroad crossings just trying to get to work and then this thing rolls by takes about 50 mins. You finally get to work and your boss asked you why you’re late and you have to respond with our there was a 300 car train in my way. They took 50 minutes to pass.

Could you imagine running this for realizes, getting in the lead loco, ready to go, then just before you start pulling realizing you left a hand brake set on the last car...... edit to add maths: That's just a little short of a 6 mile round trip walk to go get that hand brake.......
