You should name it "The Yard" because it connects to the old railway yard and also sounds really modern and Cosmopolitan, something the highly earning residents and office goers would call it. "Hey ya i love at the yard"

I was going to comment the same thing. Another way they could do it is level everything to the ground and use the road tools mod to make both sides have retaining walls. It might seem cramped but that's the kind of clearance you've got on subway rails anyways so its not really unrealistic, and it gives some extra separations between the rails and the building. Could plant some trees and make it look nice.

With the recent massive expansion of both Riverview and East Riverview, I think a transit-focused episode is long overdue. Although it'd be cool to add a train station in the old rail yard, I think it's too close to the Central Station. So maybe trams, metro or buses are the best options to connect the new areas to the rest of the public transportation network.

Hey ! Nice adding to the city. I missed the vote on this one. (I was kinda occupied on other matters you know, stuff happening.) But since i agree with how the vote ended there is no harm done. Investors will be very very well here ! I cannot stop to think the rail-track should be covered by a "tunnel" (Anarchy can allow to make "outdoor" tunnels) or with retaining walls, allowing for a more slick and clean border for buildings and parking. Speaking of parking, don't forget that there is underground parkings too. The asset is cool ! The city seems to miss some death-care no ? (No i don't have any shares in death-care in the city and though some friend of mine do there is no conflict of interest here.)
@Infrastructurist
@Infrastructurist 2 ай бұрын
Good input, good input! Interesting idea with turning it to a tunnel, I might experiment with that. Maybe just the middle section? as the sunken segments look so cool with all the train traffic! Also, we have deathcare but likely not enough, as I guess you've noticed some small deathwaves 😅

Name suggestions: Hammerbrook is a district in Hamburg, Germany, characterized by its industrial heritage and strategic location near the city center. Historically known for its railway connections and warehouses, Hammerbrook has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years, transitioning into a vibrant mixed-use area combining commercial and residential spaces. The name "Hammerbrook" is fitting for this transformation due to its historical significance in industry and commerce, reflected in the hammer mills that once operated in the area. As the district evolves into a modern urban center, incorporating both commercial establishments and residential developments, the name maintains a connection to its past while symbolizing its future as a dynamic and multifaceted neighborhood.

Video reminded me a lot of Canary Wharf, and I think this place should have its own name on this theme. The name for Canary Wharf comes from Ship Berth no.32 which imported fruit from the Canary Islands, and wharf as in dock/mooring/port. Ideas regarding this in a sort of/not sort of Colorado city, could refer to the Colorado River running through into the gulf of California. there are 2 Mexican states - Baja California and Sonora - surrounding this gulf, with the latter being a large fruit producer, so the name could be something like 'Sonora Wharf'/'Sonora Mooring'/'Baja Wharf'/'Citrus Quay' (due to citrus fruit grown there) or something like this

Great work! I love how Riverview is looking! As always, I absolutely love your attention to detail and how you transformed an under-utilized piece of infrastructure into a place that is special for the Riverview community. I do have one piece of feedback: when you unlocked the medical institute thingy, I noticed that you have no hospitals in Riverview. I think that a region that is that dense and urban would absolutely require an actual hospital, not just medical clinics. Hopefully, you take this into consideration! (I'm not sure if you plopped a hospital somewhere in the series and I missed it).
@ryanoberdorf928

I'd like to see you add some sort of mixed-use, cross-city path. A lot of cities in the US are trying this sort of development to increase public physical activities like running, biking, walking etc. Furthermore, it also encourages non-vehicular commuting in cities. One initiative that I know my state and city participate in is Rails to Trails; they utilize old rail right of way and convert them to mixed use paths. One such example is the Southwest commuter Path in Madison, Wisconsin. Old rail ROW is nice for paths because the grade is usually not too steep, it passes through the heart of most cities, and are often surrounded by some nature aspects since many people did not build right up against an active railway. If this is a Colorado-based city, it is also good to note that those areas are generally really into endurance sports like biking and running.

Hillside Brook renaming suggestion: The Strand This would tie your IMAX in nicely with London's the Strand - which is part of the West End theatreland. The name comes from the Old English 'strond', meaning beach or river's edge. For added fun, you could rename some of the new roads and lanes you built to those found around the Strand in London. Rename the tallest building to Savoy House and the surrounding roads to some of these: Tower Street, Savoy Street, Savoy Hill, Savoy Place, Savoy Court, Drury Lane, Victoria Embankment, Aldwych, Surrey Street, Tavistock Street, Long Acre, Seven Dials, Short's Gardens, Floral Street. The roads with bridges could be named Waterloo Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Southwark Bridge, Golden Jubilee Bridge. I absolutely love the detailing in this episode. Your efforts pay off - the area looks fantastic! Using the IMAX tiling was a stroke of genius. I especially love the dual-coloured twin building, the town house triplets, and the train underpass. If train line segments can be named, there's even a Strand Underpass in London (road not train track). Me thinks the next modernisation of the city could be the Riverview Stock Exchange district and perhaps Riverview Municipal Court; super modern mixed with grand old. Did you notice the wild animals starting to cross the street at 51:50?! :@D

I reckon Yardside for the new area name, given that the old railyard was previously there. I love that you can still see the trains running through but I have a funny feeling that that's the sort of thing that might actually get covered over and hidden in a tunnel, freeing up the space for more urban development. Nice to see that your PC isn't dying too...

Hillside Brook can be renamed to "Port Laurel" - The new urban development that has replaced old industry has been looked upon by city residents as one of Riverview's greatest achievements, hence the word "Laurel" representing the praise this new area has received. It is indeed still situated at the waterside and used to be part of "Old Port" , hence the prefix "Port" in the town name giving reference to its old usage.

I don't know if it is possible, but maybe make a sunken custom railway station. I feel like it would be a great spot for another station. Maybe the name of the area should be High-Mile since it rivals the DTR Skyline. High-Mile station would also be a great transit hub, many residents could get off the train and get the tram towards the rest of the city, putting less pressure on the central station. Now that I think about it, in many European cities these type of stations get labeled as "set city-south".
