Edited highlights from #124 of The Bill, broadcast 25-05-2003. The Bill doing what The Bill did best! A building society gets held up by armed robbers. While the boys in uniform give chase through the streets of central London, the detective branch arrives at the scene of the crime and tries to discover exactly what happened.

Nice bit of handbrake action in that Veccy SRi... Who ever thought we would miss seing THOSE on the roads? Or the Mondeo for that matter! Good clip, good cars, good times. 2003 doesn't seem "old" yet but I suppose it was 20+ years ago now!😱

I 1st saw this the day it aired and I've always thought the officer said "we're in over our heads", but only a few minute's ago I realized that the officer actually said "they went over our heads". Strange, but in a funny way

I've just realized something. Smithy, Nixon, Des and Hunter are all very intelligent, so why didn't it occur to any of them that the most likely reason the 2 robbers are wearing crash helmets not balaclavas is that they plan to ditch the car and escape on Motorbikes?

Good point. It seems likely that it got lost in the heat of the moment, but in any case where exactly the change might happen was something they wouldn't know anyway.

@@danielanderson5227 yep sure is Alex alright...he was in The Bill for ages on and off; first just as a PC, when he returned he was a Sargent having done a stint in SO19 (armed response unit), and in one of his first episodes after returning, he accidentally shot Bob Cryer; in the final season (2009-10) Smithy was promoted to Inspector after Supt. John Heaton (played by Daniel Flynn) left, DCI Jack Meadows was promoted alongside Smithy...Smithy was my all time favourite Character on The Bill
