As for the KPLC manager telling us it's better to have reliable electricity than cheap/or no electricity is total absurdity of the tallest order! On reflection, regarding the number of charges on our electricity bills ,its mind boggling 🤦🤦...for sure we are captives of GoK.

Someone once said, "Kenyans are just not angry enough"... I think it is time we as a people deside,enough is enough. These high taxes are killing us.

The Kenya power Managing Director sounds like one of those arrogant politicians. Why do we have to be charged for REP yet the government claims they ditch money fir the same???

Isaac Ndereva is the man to listen to in this whole debate. He speaks clearly and honestly about the place we are in. Why he is not the minister in charge is just a marvel.

Just asking, can't we burn down the IPP thermal stations down and see if they will produce anything because they will not bill KPLC the fuel charge.
@denismaina8648
@denismaina8648 Жыл бұрын
Haha. Well that might not be the solution but IPPs are permanently holding KP by the balls courtesy of the punitive contracts in place. It is until the contracts period ends that fuel charge shall disappear from our bills. But this will take years to be realised. Till then...

Being off grid seems like the alternative right about now. We should think renewable sources of energy. But I bet the powers that be will also want to have a say on how and if you can stick it to them.

I will restrain myself from calling this individual (CEO) names that are almost busting out of my chest… it hurts to hold it down but I’ll try… The very reason why this continent does not move forward is because of these types of individuals. An engineer is someone who would be creative in finding reasonable solutions to difficult problems (a)society faces. This guy has none of that. Nether creativity nor problems solving skills. This chap goes further to tell us “sometimes it’s better to have expensive power than no power at all… to this🤮I can only say what my grandfather told my father: the muzungu doesn’t want lights on passed 19:00 hrs in the servants quarters. They can’t afford it and besides what do they need lights for, they’ve been living in darkness for centuries…. The difference between that mkoloni and this CEO is the colour of our skins and the time frame. To add insult to injury he -CEO - goes on philosophical asking: what is expensive?… Really?? If you look at all regions that have literally changed their status rapidly in the last 60+yrs,…all have one common thread: abundant supply of energy at affordable and stable prices. This individual must have traveled and for someone in his position still travels widely abroad. I seriously ask myself. What does he see when he’s out there really? As a CEO of company whose SINGLE PURPOSE is ensure more and more people each year are connected to the power grid. Meaning more customers vs more revenue period! All these countries that have move from beggars to serious producers never begged for basic needs to take them to the next level. They had - again- serious, creative thinkers, who saw problems, found solutions to them. Unfortunately he’s not alone. Sitting on top of organisations like this one, showing off his top notch arrogance… oblivious of a humble fact: with great power, comes great responsibilities…

I’m made to question the academic pedigree of this gentleman (the current KPLC CEO) especially when we treat electricity as a basic need affordable to everyone. I bought a hundred shillings token today only to see 4.87 units which is was charged at ksh 37.66. Can you believe that you only get 37.66% of amount you spend on buying power. The argument put forth by the CEO, “ it is better to have power than nothing at all”, is an argument that only an unschooled manager can use in a crucial matter such as this. What the public needs is concrete and justifiable reasons as to why such high costs are charged on power. Otherwise, such dockets such as KPLC managerial positions require persons who understands the assignment not some Toms, Dicks, and Harrys
