After seeing internal documents like this and the others it's easy to see why we still care so much about this series even today. They clearly had a great blend of business logic and passion in the development process.

I love these development reveals for my favorite toyline. Even after so many years, we still learn new things about Bionicle. Would really love that physical document, but I am glad that we got the PDF of it as well.

When I was a kid I participated in this market research along with my mother, I remember them asking a bunch of questions about what we thought of the look of the toa and which one we thought looked the coolest.

This document is vindication for me when AFOLs try to downplay the success of bioinicle. They hate how something that wasn't traditional bricks saved the company and influences them till this day.

So now we have definitive concrete proof from Lego themselves that BIONICLE helped them escape the financial situation they were in during the cusp of the millennium. Well, even more actually as I remember reading an excerpt from A book called Brick by Brick that went at length into how Lego was in financial trouble in part due to royalties or fees they had to pay to IP owners for the licenses they used to make sets for them and BIONICLE was created in part to be their own IP to generate more revenue or profit without any royalties taking a chunk out of it. And I heard AFOLs who hate constraction or were just skeptics in the past try to downplay this, disprove it, or say it was not true or say it was Star Wars or something else. Well, now we've heard it straight from the horse's mouth, so stuff it.

As someone who grew up with LEGO, pursued the entertainment industry broadly as a career, and am now wrapping up my MBA, the opportunity to see internal comms that are oriented towards their business and strategy. ESPECIALLY when it's for something as close to my heart as Bionicle.

I so happy that Mr.Favor let you get your hands and eyes on the foundation of Bionicle that normally does not happen(Or does in pieces) or is lost all together in media. Also yeah outside the US government documents like this only see the light of day in leaks and I guessing this means Bionicle as it was is truly "dead". As most creators don't want to show this kind of thing if plans are still in motion. Still It's good to see this stuff regardless!
