There are some young Hmong people living in Korea for education. Plus some of my Hmong ladies married to Korean men. If you ever meet any Hmong students or wives who are Hmong, you can be friends, and learn about us from them.

Thank you for the clarification. That was what I was told too. There was no White Hmong back in the days only Hmong Leeg. And the story why White Hmong women are wearing pants only in Laos once migranted there. They had changed to pants (men, women n childten) so from a distance they all look like men to the Chinese n appear out numbers. They changed their dialect too so the Chinese would not recognize that they are Hmong. The word " kwv n tij; the younger brother n older brother" literally mean the opposite n simply to disguise n stop the Chinese from taking the older brother to war. The family rather send the younger brother to war verse the older brother bc the older brother can care for the family but not the younger brother :(

There is nothing wrong with playing pool or drinking. Drinking is a big part of Hmong culture. It is a way of offering/accepting friendship. Refusing an alcohol offer is like refusing a friendship offer. I am hmong and i don’t know the origin of pronouncing h’mong comes from. Maybe thats the way they said it only in Sapa Vietnam. Here is the USA we call ourself “mong”. The “h” is silent. So plse only call h”mong in vietnam if thats they way the prefer you to call them, but not us here. Thanks!

Vietnamese pronounce it H’mong because when they pronounce it Mong, it means something else. Search this word “Mông” on google. You’ll know.

We need our own stories told more than we do about people visiting us because we are a people that have known oppression for generations. So oppressed that we lost our written language. Everyone in this earth want civilization need to get trade and need roads. 2) Hmong people living in mountain areas from thoundsand year ago. They're not connected with others group even other minority ethic 3) Hmong people is living with their own cultures & traditional so many generations of them have not trade with different ethnicities. This make them only knowing their own people & their own way 4) Because of different languages. There is 53 minority ethnic in Vietnam!!! hmong is one of them 5) As i said, their side with their cultures so many of them did not interacting with Viet people (King people) so they don't go to schools. It's keep generation to generation. while Vietnamese government give them free schools camp and free teacher. Exactly, kids send to school camp can have free foods. But many of them don't let their kids to school, mostly the kids is working at home cause their cultures Every years, teacher go to far away villages explain their grandparents should give kids to school but after fews times, they're drop out This is why mostly of them don't have education. when you don't have education, you knowing nothing outside of your village This blame to themselves, why you blame to government and Vietnamese. we help them alots usually if Hmong or minority ethics in Vietnam breaking rules/laws they almost can passed it cause to government they're minority so they're don't knowingly alots. If Viet people breaking laws, they face judges justices It's need time, when the parents and great-grandparents of Hmong seeing how education can changing their life they will let the kids have student more No one in Vietnam force them not education. karen nguyen you should travel to vietnam to see it by yourself, there is many hmong living in remote air high mountain, far away from other ethnic that's why they have no connection with others group & stick with their culture only and that's why mostly of them have no education this thing can't changing in month or years. this need time, maybe 5-10-15years more, since nowadays they're step out with other ethnic and government help them alots since Hmong living in Vietnam thoundsand years ago, they're being apart of vietnam

@@tranlily3001 no hmong only move to vietnam in teh early 1800 so only a few hundred years. while the han chinese ben dover and take what ever teh manchu give them, us hmong just rebel over and over agianst the manchu rule until it unliveable in china so we migrate southward to burman, laos, thailand and vietnam. not knowing if we would be accept by teh people who were already there, we choose isolation itn eh mountians and stay away from other groups while we repopulate. keep in mind we lost nearly 80% of our population during the last rebeling in china. we only communite once a year during the new years but during teh vietnam war, hmong lose all communication wiath each other. the hmong in china, after teh fall of teh manchu, they side with the commie to kick out eh nationalist. in vietnam, the hmong there side with teh commie while in Lao, we side with the royalist and royal family. after commie took over laos and the king was executed, te royal army and a lot of us left laos, the hmong that remain in laos are treated as rebels and terrorist so yes they are badly treated in laos. any help we give to teh hmong in laos was seen as funding rebels and terrorist and as a result, they were greatly oppress adn massacre, so we cant help them. although we do fight against teh hmong in vietnam during teh war while fighting agaisnt eh vietnames, afte the war and even to these day, we still dont know how the vietnames government will see or react if we were to reach out a hand and help out our fellow hmong in vietnam. yes education is key to a better future, those of us in america know that. us hmong in america want to help thh hmong in vietnam too but we afriad that if we were to reach out to them, teh vietnames government might reacted teh same way teh laos government did and start to mass masscre the hmong in vietnam.

I think the H should be dropped from the speaking of the word. Maybe in the older days, alot of Hmong people puffed before saying "Mong." And they still kept it one syllable. However, I hardly notice that quick puff anymore in this day and age.
