I cried during the tag cutscene “you were my friends” gets me everytime

The ending gives a new meaning to one of Rictofen's lines. When I died, I felt nothing. When Dempsey died, I felt something. When Takeo died, I knew I had to try to save them. Rictofen knew that to end the madness they had to dissappear, but he didn't want his friends to die and disappear, so he tried to save them all, again and again, desperately in the never ending cycle. And so Nikolai took the lead and decided that they suffered enough and that everything must be stopped. The truth Rictofen could no longer face.

"I think I'd like to teach, medicine, maybe pathology" is honestly just as heart breaking as " I was the nicest one and you wont even remember" when you know that he didnt even know he was about to die

Man I kinda wish we saw the characters living the life they wanted in the ending cutscene imagine seeing nikolai die next to his wife, takeo with his children, richtofen opening up his own morgue, Dempsey being a DI etc..

I feel so bad for victis, they did so much and were promised so much but ended up dead. You can hear the worry in his voice, the trust fading away, his whole "destiny", was just death. I, was a fan of victis, it makes me remember of the bo2 days.

I miss the cgi cutscenes. As the story reached towards the end. The quality went drastically down as we all know it.

I've been playing zombies for as long as I can remember... I started in bo1 and even though its been a bumpy ride this whole way through, I wouldn't give it up for the world. Thank you Treyarch for putting genuine thought into the zombies game mode and not making it some throw-away side option

I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t like the ending. It wasn’t the best ending but, it was the right ending.

I still think that BO3 should’ve been the ending of the storyline. It was way better than BO4, in my opinion.

Got tears currently whilst watching this. I’ve played Tag der Toten for the 6th time since launch and activated the EE song of the map every time and I had memories of older maps and experiences from days, months and years back just come rushing down like a wild waterfall with no control and suffice it to say I had uncontrollable tears rushing down whilst slaying the endless hordes and hearing ridiculous and funny character quotes. Every little detail every little cipher every little Easter egg every map Treyarch has made for the Aether story I’m truly thankful for as well as every video from my various favourite content creators that made life a little bit less mundane. Thank you all for this, I’ll never forget it and I’ll honour every map by playing them over and over again, from start to finish. Thank you my comrades, I salute you all.

I got introduced to zombies during 2013 , it took time for me to understand the story line , I got attached to the story and characters. It really breaks my heart to see how a beautiful adventure comes to an end . I had lots of fun during black ops 3 and 4 , but these memories are always going to be with me where ever I go.

Quotes that the Tag Der Toten ending cutscene kicked to the curb and made completely pointless... (classified ending cutscene) Nikolai- "Now we must go, quick there is a war to fight" Tank Dempsey- "A war? What kind of war?" Nikolai- " A war unlike anything you've ever seen" (!Alpha Omega ending cutscene) Maxis- "He know's what you're doing!" Takeo- "Who know's? Who does he speak of?! Nikolai- "Dr. Monty" Tank Dempsey- "What's happening Nikolai?" (Alpha Omega ending cutscene) Samantha- "We're going to fight the war Eddie, the GREAT WAR! then we're going back to the house to kill him and burn it all to the ground! Argartha, the aether, the infinite, everything!" (Tag Der Toten intro cutscene) Nikolai- "The madness is nearly over child, but one thing remains, the one who perpetuates this madness, he must be... I wish I did not have to ask this of you but, only you can do it." The ending cutscene of Tag Der Toten seems to me like it's not even part of the same storyline that was leading up to it, or at least like if it ignores some of the major plot lines.

If you think about it, the aether maps are basically Zombies Chronicles 2. For the most part...

“The madness is almost over child. The one who perpetuates this madness, he must be...”, in BO5 maybe the transit crew and Samantha team up to finish one last thing? Plus isn’t there a radio where Stu is complaining how dark everything is and that Richthofen isn’t answering back? So maybe they survived the ending when it all turned black

It would have been even more fire if the transit characters were given a chance to answer the question in the ending

Started this when I was only 11, 10 years I've loved and played on enjoying the storyline more and more, I hold this game/story close its a childhood memory I'll have that no game will come close too, the music the voices everything just perfect.

Well that was depressing I know it's a video game but man have they been through a lot. There almost real at this point in time

after watching all of the cut scenes the way they ended it made absolutely no sense. it should have for sure been a great war map. they hyped him up so much didn't even mention Dr. Monty in the map or the final cut scene hardly at all.

It would be awesome if you did this every cutscene in the entire storyline. In the right order. That would be sick

It’s crazy how high quality the cutscenes were in BOTD, then you get to AO and TDT, and we have animated, cheap cutscenes - within a matter of months.

31:18 that scene, with every one of them gathered around, with the music, it makes me shed a tear, and that ain't a joke. June 11th, 2009, was the first time we saw these weird, but likeable new characters, and it would not be the last. And hell, who would have thought that a little map like Nacht der untoten would kick of one of the greatest ever side modes in gaming history? It's been fun.

it really hit me when richthofen in alcatraz got left there and it’s scary to be left alone for eternity or at least i think he did and his friends/brothers left him 😢😭😭😭

I just cant believe Nicholai when he says “you all were my friends” when he willingly turned his back on a bleeding out Richthofen.

This is it. After so many years, it all has come to an end. As I did not play BO4 and did not care about it for a long time because it looked like a CoD-Fortnite-hybride, I never realized that the Aether-storyline was being continued in this game. Just hours ago I learned, that this game even concluded the storyline. And after watching this compilation, I really do not know what to think. On one side, it is really sad to think about how all our beloved characters had to die and that after all we've been through... the hundreds of hours for easter-eggs and what not... they have all been in vain. All of it has been banished to the Dark Aether, nobody will remember anything. But on the other side, I think that after all the convolution we got in the past installments (time travel, alternate dimensions, aliens...), this rather abrupt ending was the only way we as a community would accept it as final. Now, just as our beloved casts, we can finally find peace. So, thank you so much for this compilation, MrRoflWaffles! And thank you to this great community for making Treyarch Zombies to the treasure it is today!

Watching the end and playing the last map feels even worse once you rewatch BoTD ending, that's a true masterpiece ending right there. That slideshow we got is nothing compared to it.

This may be the end of the AETHER story; but I honest to god hope we get something like...say, something called "Annihilation" and that story; bringing back Primis / Ultimis and have them combat the Dark Aether. idk; I don't wanna see Primis go ;_;

This is one, if not the only set of games that gave all of us happiness. Gave us what we wanted. Kept the story going like we cherished in our childhoods. Best of emotions throughout this entire series. Not just zombies. But no other game would bring out this emotion in so many people

Blood was heat with all the cutscenes during the egg and everything remake for sure but it had care 100%
