Intuitive yes natural no, Wyatt is not comfortable issuing commands to others, once Redford has worked out a way of getting around this then Wyatt will start climbing the ranks

@@terrywilson1226 Well Wyatt certainly had a natural appeal when he persuaded the original crew of the Noirnavio to change sides and fight the Drazzan, I grant you, but Wyatt is not so good at giving orders, he is however well versed in manipulating nobles, So once he has got the hang of issuing commands in a "you will not question these orders" kind of way he will be set

I think like @terrywilson1226. Being a leader does not mean referring to giving orders. It is to be the person who points the way with his example, with a series of inherent or learned qualities, with his knowledge, his way of relating to others; his ability to manage crises and make decisions, understand the members of a group and support, in short, guide.

@@dantepoggini7752 As a noble Wyatt can give suggestions, in fact he does that here as he cannot order those who are both superior in naval rank and nobility (they are lords he is only a knight, all be it an important one. However as he is also a Naval officer he has to learn how to command, as an example, he may have to order men to cover a retreat probably at the cost of their own lives, or to lead an attack in order to cripple an enemies shields, you cannot simply suggest that someone might like to go sacrifice their lives in order that you can do something else, you have to order and know that you will be obeyed, especially since you may not have time to explain to others why you are giving the order. Note a good officer does not willingly sacrifice his men, but they do accept that sometimes they will be sending at least some of those men to their deaths. This is one reason why in many military services the commander who sends or leads those men to their deaths is the one who writes to their relatives to tell them how they died assuming they themselves survived

What are you talking about? Galt Tirom's redemption arc started already before Book 2 even started. It started when he wanted to help fight the Drazin. Then he spoke up in Wyatt's defense in the sham trial. He asked Clara what would happen to Wyatt and showed more concern about that young man's life than his own. Then he took Clara's offer and swore loyalty to her. He in this book helped Wyatt with his panic attack and how to deal with the root issue of them. So yeah, Galt's redemption arc has started while ago and is doing great so far! 😊

Galt has already redeemed himself, this may be more about restoring some of his rank

Actually they are going to be very grateful, Wyatt gave them an out, firstly you have to bear in mind that none save Redford and to a lesser extent Galt really have any idea what to make of Wyatt but he appears as far as they are concerned to have a lot of influence with Clara, that can be positive or negative as far as they are concerned, then you have to see the Pirates from the officers point of view, none of them want pirates in their own departments but they are under orders from the Princess to make a workable solution, none including Wyatt know the real reason Clara wants these pirates to be saved so Wyatt has given them something they can understand, he's told them "maybe it's not about the pirates it's about YOU" And because of the way nobility seems to work they have all (apart from Redford and Galt) gone ah, Clara is testing our loyalty and competence, perhaps with his proximity to the Princess this young Lieutenant has heard things and is letting us know. So now they will willingly cooperate because it is not about the pirates it os about their standing and they won't hate Wyatt for out manoeuvring them instead they appreciate the warning and will do their best as a result to accomplish their tasks. Because by doing so they may get a royal commendation for their efforts as opposed to the opposite .... Oh and he has also given them a workable solution they can live with, it requires far less effort on their part to appoint a few of their juniors to look after a bunch of pirate kids in a barracks than it would have to try and integrate those kids within their own established orders. Win win they accomplish Claras orders and keep them away from the majority of their own people. Meanwhile Redford has seen Wyatts actions and realised that he has outsmarted his bridge officers without any of them realising, Wyatt works on instinct, he has a commoners understanding of how nobility works to he has played to their fears (Clara is testing THEM, notice he said us, thereby including himself in the test) and he doesn't order them to find a solution but instead offers them a workable scheme that they can adapt so that each can show Clara how helpful they have been thereby ensuring that they will each earn some praise ..... I am so looking forward to seeing how Redford adapts his instruction for Wyatt after this

Well Redford is one of very few who know that it was Wyatt who commanded the Noirnavio when it thrashed the Drazzan so he knows Wyatt has the potential to replace him and probably exceed his own ability if he can just find a way of turning Wyatt into an officer who can issue orders that will be obeyed

I’m seeing Wyatt becoming a Nexus for Clara- in that Wyatt being a role models to get or Motivate the Nobles & Commoners back to the Lost Core Values of Principality. By training them & showing them the value of thinking & Acting in an Unconventional Ways & Means, while Leading through example, the value all have both Nobility & Commoners- Nobility Guides for the Better of All the Principality. Plus By learning to think Unconventionally- will gives them an Edge against Duke Draemore’s forces which only knows how to operate in a Conventional Mode- Ridged., which also would potentially offer a means to mitigate collateral damages & loss of life on Both sides. I anticipated this chapter would be related to Wyatt & Redford in a Higher Command Level training that Wyatt lacks, since his academy training was only Commoner Level, and not the level given to the Nobility.

Wyatt has an understanding of what appears to be a majority of the nobilities mind sets and it's not that different to the commoners, do well at tasks assigned to them and do not screw up enough to get punished, his skill here was in making the task of looking after the Pirate Kids into the task of proving that the Nobles were being tested, also he threw himself into those being tested, i.e it's not about the kids it's about how well WE accomplish the task, note he doesn't give his seniors orders but instead asks if they could do something and leaves it up to them as how they can accomplish the tasks that they themselves are suddenly far more eager to take on, I think this is what Redford sees here

@@davidorf3921I think the key was given to us in the last chapters- 38 & 39, Clara is all about 2nd Chances, her own Harsh Executions of 3x Noble House & 18 Minor houses… As a LEO (Me)- My Mentor taught me “There is no such thing as a Bad Kid, Just misguided..” Clara is looking at how she can redeem even a few of the Pirates, because with the future Traitors will also deserve a 2nd chance, verses just cleansing the houses, as a means to rebuilding the core of the principality….

@@davidorf3921Also- Gault being placed in charge of the Pirate Conscripts makes more sense then Wyatt, since Gault being a Noble who was part of a Treacherous Crew was spared Death, along with his fellow crewmen to prove the Princess’ words of 2nd chances, even though is was Wyatt that went against Clara’s orders in the first place, but has proven useful & sound since…

Fortunately Clara has good sense enough to understand when Wyatt disobeys her it's for the right reasons and she listens. otherwise Wyatt would have already been thrown out the airlock or beheaded by Cynthia

I have thought the same but not at the expense of quality. Really hooked on this story and the community's comments add to the intrigue of which direction the story will be taking.

I just wish I would have found it after it was completed. I would spend 40 hours listening to the whole story from start to finish.

If as I suspect Wyatt ends up with a significant increase in nobility at the end of this "Dispute" due to being appointed as a replacement for a traitors house then I could well see Galt swearing his house to support Wyatt's I could also see Leopold ending up as the equivalent of Wyatts squire or even a household knight, a suitable reward for his loyalty perhaps ?

@@davidorf3921 The looks of the war room causes me to think Clara may be building her own house. 1. She is an Astor but if she marries ( probably Wyatt) she will be in another house. 2. After this shakes out there will be many new houses and territories from the remains. 3. She intends to wage this war in a different fashion than her brother using the Noirnavio as intended not by the rules her brother would follow 4. The new house will have a much different relationship between nobles and commoners and other nobles 5. Redford is in on this and Wyatt is the key part. I don't know where Cynthia is on this probably undecided
