Based on the map, Lyptsi seems to be in the low land surrounded by high land on the east and west. The west side is also very forested. The russians will not enter the town until they figure out where everything hides around and clean it. I bet they will first extend south on the East side to secure one high side, and see if they can get to the west side forest from the North or west.
