@@Polychromophilia Yes, which is why they depreciate so much. For me it worth the risk. Buy 4-5 years old, sell 2 years later...had very few issues with my German cars in this range.

@@ronaldov09 Do the maintenance as prescribed and not in the back yard, then there are no problems. I owned Audi, BMW and Mercedes (my actual car) and never had any problems. I kept the Audi TT Convertible the longest (8 years) because it was a fun car. Sure, I drive the cars for a maximum of 5 years and then get a new one. But even if the guarantee had expired, goodwill repairs were made. Reason for that was that my cars were always at a licensed dealer for maintenance.

The 4-series also has a smaller back seat than the 2-series. Apparently in BMW land, the smaller and cheaper the coupe, the more back seat room you get.

I fit back there fine at 6'2", for a car with such a low roofline rear seat usability is truly impressive. They must have performed a packaging miracle with the 2-series. Performance is staggering and so is its capability. But when someone is looking for a 120k+ GT car, first cars that pop in their mind are Bentley, Aston Martin and Porsche, not BMW.

But your point simply doesn't apply to a brand new car like this. Short of putting oil in it and changing the tyres, how much do you think you can really do? The engine/drivetrain in a car like this is pretty bulletproof. The problem is electrics, as with every modern car. This 'maintenance' you're talking about with a car like this involves taking it to a BMW dealer and having them plug their diagnostic shit into it before pointing out everything they're going to fuck you on. If you have your own BMW specific diagnostic tools, great - but your wrenches and screwdrivers aren't going to do shit to keep this fucker affordable to maintain. It's just the reality of it. If you think you can get into this thing and do the same kind of running repairs you can on a 30 year old car without sending the EMS into a shitfit and rendering the car undriveable, PLEASE video it. I'd like to see it.

The Porsche is actually .08 slower than the M8 and has a TON LESS FEATURES and weighs less, and has older tech, and isn't as intuitive. So you wanna pay more for *LESS* correct?

Because it‘s just as fast and in most places where a lot of people can afford these cars, it‘s actually more exotic due to EVERYBODY driving 911s.
