I love that they reference the fact we had to glitch in order to get to cool places. The devs really recognize how everyone has been playing skate the last few years and what the game has been lacking. It’s so refreshing to see a dev team so plugged into what the community wants and needs.

It feels so good to know Skate is coming along I've been playing this franchise for nearly 15 years now and it meant the world to me when Skate 1 was released. I was in 7th grade, immersed in Skateboarding. One of the best periods in life is when your outward expression is also met by something you can experience internally, meaning I'm outside skating every day, than I'm inside skating every day in a passionate virtual world. Growing in those two areas was amazing. I know this game is FTP but would really enjoy a story mode to go through like many other people have suggested. Story in 1, 2 and 3 was almost essential for new players to learn mechanics before going into online, and was just down right fun and felt right. the song for the trailer is a perfect choice. i also love the clip with the tailslide where the board gets stuck on the pillar orwhatnot. that moment in particular felt just like a real skate video.

I love how she mentions skateboarders check out surfaces and kind of know what’s better for grinding and how we pay attention to art in general!!

You can tell how much love is being put into this and that the team really cares for skate culture. So excited.

This gives me such nostalgia watching those clips, it almost reminds of the same style of gameplay as little big planet where you could collaborate with your friends just in a skateboarding and I love it. I’m so excited for this

Okay... We are primarily interested in a comprehensive discussion of the role that microtransactions will play in the game. There is no doubt amongst the community that the mechanics will be good. So long as there is a story mode / offline mode, the gameplay will be just fine. What we really need to know is how the game is going to be monetized. Many good games have been ruined by manipulative and predatory monetization, and given EA's track record, we are all nervous. We know you're all good at your jobs and will create a wonderful game. If, however, you fail to monetize it in an appropriate manner, it will be ruined. That is what we're worried about... that is what we need a discussion of.

Going back and redoing mo-cap was the best thing you could've chosen to do. I know this is pre alpha gameplay but already the subtleties of the perfect imperfections are amazing. The flip tricks look amazing. The way that you land into a manual not perfectly flat(the trucks flex under your board like they will in real life), the landings with a tiny bit of revert to finish the rotation, everything. Fantastic job. So pumped for this game.

Would be awesome if there was a campaign/storyline mode where you have to earn your rep as a skater, get different&better sponsors etc.

Climbing stuff looks like a really fun addition. My favourite activity in Skate. was always to find cool little niche spots in 2 and keep skating them til I could do something unique with them. This looks like it'll really let me focus in on that.

I think this is going to be one of the best games in history, like it's gonna set a new bar. For example the off-board mechanics and animations as a whole are things every single free-roam game developer is gonna look at. And it's so pretty!

Just gonna take a second to appreciate the new crispy audio!! So nice! The new animations looking super clean too! So keen for this game!

little wish list for Skate 4. I don’t know how many of these might have been confirmed or not, im pretty out of the loop, but here it is: - clean landings feel satisfying to land - an open world, doesn’t have to be Grand Theft Auto mind blowing, just one that doesn’t feel like a giant sandbox - some sections of the map have more NPCs and cars, while other places have less - better face customization/modifications - updated music, like, the little radio songs that play - more of the accessories (rings, necklaces and glasses) - more facial hair options - I know lots of people like the “no skating” areas, but i REALLY don’t, hopefully you can turn it off somehow - another “time is money” type DLC - apartments? maybe? not sure about that - MAYBE running a “business” similar to GTA Online stuff, but not shoved in your face like GTA - more tattoo options, something like a UFC tattoo system where you have complete freedom with where they are on the body - wayyy more hairstyles - customize how long certain hairstyles are, something like how NBA 2k does it - assuming the player doesn’t talk, it would be funny if the side characters said something about it. “Not much of a talker?” “I’ll take your optimistic silence as a yes.” “All you had to do was ask. (in some sarcastic way)” “Sometimes I feel lonely talking to you” - there probably won’t be a story mode, but maybe a storyline? some challenges bleed into the next one. Example: You just won a game of S.K.A.T.E against Darren. After one in-game day, Cuz texts you saying something like “Darren told me how impressed he was during the SKATE game” or something like that - different buildings to interact with. maybe stores, banks, restaurants, bars, shelters, theatres or arcades. stuff like that - if it is an open world, traversal would probably feel pretty slow. maybe some sort of driving mechanic? - more than one bodyflip at a time - uhh..longboards? There’s probably more im not thinking of, but that’s what came to mind, thanks for reading, bye

Getting Skate. for Christmas as a 13 year old was one of the highlights of my video game life. I still remember how unique and cool all the mechanics felt compared to everything else out there. It's so amazing that all these years later not only has Cus managed to bring my favourite franchise back to life but also has kept that energy of doing things differently and creatively. That's always been the true lifeblood of the Skate. franchise. My inner child thanks you Cus and Full Circle team! See you on launch day!

The Skate series has been one of my biggest outlets for creative freedom/expression for over twelve years - I can't wait to find out how much further this game will allow me to push the limits of my creativity. Excited!

I know you guys are pouring all your love and time into this new Skate! As a long time Skate fan I must ask, please please drastically upgrade the pedestrian ai to have better physics and be more intelligent!! I feel like this was lacking in previous installments and would add a whole new element of fun. Can’t wait for this game!

I hope they do random event updates like pro skaters and their content or things like X Game updates. It's a way to put infinite content in the game instead of having a limited amount on a disk

I'm really hoping for a "feel" closer to Skate 2 than Skate 3, and by that I mean at least the possibility of having those beautiful warm colors and the world feeling "lived in" rather than the sterile-ish feel of the Skate 3 world, but at least with it being on PC, it might be possible to just make a mod for the colors and so on if they don't end up going that direction. Let's hope this turns out as great as skate 2 did. Much love

I think anyone who HAS played it in some way can agree it ABSOLUTELY does feel like Skate. On that front it's seriously impressive, especially considering this on the Frostbite Engine (Battlefield's engine for those who may not know), so honestly hats off to the team. HOWEVER... What really worries me is the other stuff about this game; F2P, Live Service, and possible MTX. Microsoft claimed that F2P and Live Service is the direction that Halo as a franchise needed to go, and it's really not working out well. I really don't want to see another foundational video game franchise crumble. I'm getting tired of it.

Inviting people to sign up to the playtests still feels like a real kick in the teeth to those that did so on day one and still haven't been invited. Especially after waiting all these years.

Still extremely skeptical with this being free to play. I have zero trust for ea anymore although I'd love to see this game be great.

I got stoked when I heard they were upgrading the lip trick mechanics. That's something no skate game I've ever played has really gotten right so it'd be cool if they nail that. I kinda got over the free to play thing too. I do hope there's a mode with none of the super gnarly world editing tho, I feel like that could get old pretty quick with kids spamming objects in. Other than that I'm pretty stoked on this

Looks better from the last video, especially when Cuz said that was just a “Fun world” for testing a bunch of shit… I think most Skate fans can agree - we want Skate 2 but 100% more realistic. No super floaty catches, no insane flips and 4000 ft drops. Just raw , realistic skateboarding. Definitely recommend watching Stay Gold for inspiration on spots and style.

Can't wait for a completely new city to explore. And hope there will be some more dope ass tracks in the playlist like both 1, 2 and 3!

If they add vaulting to the game, this might be one of the best parkour simulators ever made. It would be really cool if there were challenges that focus on the freerunning aspect where you get points for sticking difficult jumps and combining lines

Amazing I play skate 3 every night. Definitely unlimited landing options that maybe are never the same. Sketchy landings that also feel good that it was like whooaaa I didn’t think I was going to make that. Definitely more hairstyles for all cultures. More looks for women and men… and integrating up and coming fashion not just skate fashion only but fashion that represents skaters interests. Last but not least a Skate label for music licensing for known and unknown artists to share or upload their radio or playlists or sync for people to be found and heard since also a lot of skaters are also artists. My final recommendation is for the ability for graphic and visual artists to paint and integrate their visual designs into the world. Being able to go into a spot and put your art on the wall in a meta verse aspect but maybe just a skate spot or park you find and you can input your own designs/fashion. Thanks for doing this interview as an animator also this is a dream job to work in what you love. You guys have only made the world better. Congratulations.

Just plugged in my old Xbox to play skate 3 this weekend. I stayed home for every skate release day as a kid, shout out my parents. You better believe I’ll be taking off work for the new skate as an adult lol. This game is gonna really bring it back for so many people. Chatting at the lunch table about this game, sharing clips with homies, feels like it was just yesterday. Tony Hawk game play was always fun, but when skate came out, it was an absolute no brainer which one was better. I hope you guys do another opening movie with all the pros like you’ve done in the past. Let’s see some nose bonks, faster flips out of tricks like a fakie 5-0 when you’re just “kissing the ledge”, broken boards, boned ollies so you don’t need to do the Nollie inward heel tweak saver thing (iykyk). Can’t wait team.
