It's called a movie. Chill out
@josiahpeters47175 жыл бұрын
It can be explained two ways... either it's a sign of a man who believes what he is about to do is the work and will of God, which is usually a false knowledge in terms of killing. Or, it's a sign of a man who has come to know his place and in the eyes of his Maker in this world and it gives him the boldness to do that which may seem impossible... both are dangerous depending on what side of the moral conversation you're on.

My favorite scene of the whole movie. This is how a righteous man walks the earth.He goes about his business, and he really doesnt want any trouble. 2:46 An emphatic "Stop!" from an innocent emerging from the dark recess pauses the killing by a man on fire who is, yet, sensitive to the word and turns toward the sound in amazement. 2:50 A plaintive "Please" from that same innocent absolutely cements the decision of the man to cease; as though it were a word from God Himself coming through the innocent. Something about pleading for the life of a murdering scumbag rubs me the wrong way, they picked on eli, attacked him while outnumbering him, gang attacks on lone individuals are cowardly at best, all those people deserved an axe in the head, why plead for the life of evil bastards?
@Rafalga843 жыл бұрын
@@Gnarledreaper in this context though it fits. (since his analogy of the "please" is "god's voice through the innocents bystander"). God is all-merciful and all-forgiving so a plea for the lives of the wicked fits in to his explanation.

It's made clear at the end of the movie. You can even Wikipedia it or Google it. Denzel's character in this movie is blind...a treat hidden from the viewers until the very end. It makes all of his feats, his devotion, his faith, his character...that much more truly astounding. He is literally walking, fighting, eating, talking, interacting, travelling...by Faith.
@MrSpade5150 Жыл бұрын
My theory was always he WAS blind but God gave him bacc his sight, at least a little bit, when he charged him with his crusade because if you pay attention there are several points in the movie where he's looking directly at Solara, not just in her general direction. 'Was blind but now I see'. Get it?

@K A What makes you think there's something after this life? Your whole comment is loaded with assumptions to start with.
@aheartlessharbinger60735 жыл бұрын
@K A Christians are the ones who are always boasting about their moral superiority and how thankful they are that their imaginary god is watching out for them. What they fail to realize is that having faith in god isn’t remarkable and doesn’t make them special. Faith is just belief without evidence, and belief without evidence is foolish.
@doomwolfgaming79464 жыл бұрын
@Fella Einstein I mean Christian's don't have moral high ground because they don't believe their thoughts are held accountable but apparently God supposedly reads your thoughts so if you have any dark thoughts that should mean eternal damnation. Also I'd rather not believe in heaven because no evidence shows us that it exists. I'd rather believe that when you die you just cease to exist because all brain activity stops. And sure we don't know what really happens to our conscious when we die, but if we did figure out what does happen and it's not eternal emptiness. Us who believe in science would change our outlook so that it fits with the evidence. That's the beauty of science and learning. I don't really care if you are religious but fuck it ticks me off when a person does something amazing and people give "god" credit for their work.

Actually saw a real version of that a few years ago. I worked in a call centre, I was in the incoming call section, but next to us was the sales department. The supervisor was a right arse. He would shout at his staff for loosing sales. Quite often when they were on calls to other customers. Well a guy had been working there for about 3 weeks (mostly training) and he was in his first week of actual work. He was on a call, when the supervisor came over to him and started berating him about loosing a sale on a previous call. The guy turned away to try to talk to the customer in a professional manner. But the supervisor leaned in front of him to shout at him. The guy snapped, brought his arm up behind the supervisor and he slammed the bosses face hard into the desk, put his other hand over the mike and shouted 'shut the fuck up' . He then relatively calmly went back to the call. The whole place went silent. But someone shouted 'Yeeeessss!'. The Supervisor had blood pouring from his nose and mouth. He stood up and spluttered 'your fired, get out'. A manager from the upper floor rushed down and took the supervisor away. While another supervisor told the guy to finish his call and come with her. Both got fired. The guy for assaulting a member of staff and the supervisor for aggressive behaviour towards his staff.

Always cracks me up how in scenes like this when the guy takes out the first two or three people effortlessly, the others don't get the clue and think they will do much better.

For those who did not get the message of the movie, for those who debating if he was blind or not ( you guys are just silly) ........ He is a messenger of god , as long as he is the only person containing the gods message/word , he is invisible. Once he shares the message with the girl , he is no longer invisible couse if he dies the message will not die with him.

Ok.. I'm not watching it again, but I've seen it more than twice. He's not fking blind. He didn't just hear or smell the cat or the rat or marauders attacking innocent victims. Yes, he can read braille, and has good memory, but he is never going to smell or hear his way to finding "How can you mend a broken heart" on his ipod. Ok, maybe I'll watch it again.

I love that scene! Especially because that's how a man does things. Talk fighting is for wussies! If someone is clearly looking to start something physical, as soon as they make a move you have to strike hard and fast. Trust me, no matter how many they have with them, they won't go near you after that! :)
@MarkWesley10 жыл бұрын
and after you strike hard, and calmly recite bible passages while brandishing a blade like that, only a fool would stick around LOL

@@rmas32 I been in 30 or more, when they draw to a close, threatening you. You had better be reacting already. I've lost about a third of them. My face is riddled with scars. Act when it matters, you can't wait. I only won 2 out of 3 because I was scared to get in trouble. I'd be a lot prettier had I struck first. And I'm still pretty, pretty!

I know this is a fictional movie. But it definitely portrays the power faith can have. Like the bible says. "You can do all thing through Christ who gives you strength." That's it, plain and simple have faith in God and he will take you places you never thought you could go. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path." Proverbs 3 5-6
@somethingtojenga10 жыл бұрын
......"portrays"? Have you ever seen a blind person of God do this? If so, you should report them to the police. I know your faith makes you feel like you can do anything, but you actually can't, you know?

No, I haven't seen a blind person do this. It's a MOVIE witch means not real, fake. Faith is what seemingly makes the impossible possible. I have seen the power faith has on a person and it makes a hudge impact on peoples lives. Who are you to say otherwise?
@somethingtojenga9 жыл бұрын
nicholas bronson .....uh, no, that would be ignorance... of the reason why something is possible. Like, 'whoa, how did that guy just pull off and re-attach my nose?!' The answer to that question is not 'he must have a lot of faith!'
