I've never been able to play MMO's, Star Trek online is the most I've played just because I was very interested in the lore but even that lost my interest after a bit, You are actually a hero for doing this lore series.

I remember doing this mission with my Engineering Officer, I accidentally discarded the thing that allowed me to do damage with energy weapons, but had the Falchion from the series of missions on Nimbus, so I essentially went “Screw it” and started attacking the Borg with that 😂😂

The Borg are why I carry Cochrane's shotgun with me. They can't adapt to 12 gauge slugs.

Fighting the Borg with beam weapons that don't remodulate frequencies. Just pull out a bladed weapon, run in there and start slashing.

Fun fact: Borg shields can't adapt to melee weapons. Equipping your away team with at least one tactical officer with melee abilities and weapon is fun, and presents a different challenge than going in with all energy weapons. There are a few ranged weapons that resist Borg adaptation, but that's another story ;-)

They are unlocking T6 ships for new characters, so if you ever do a new play through after that goes live you'll be able to stick with the same ship the whole way through. The ships stats will scale to your level. So you could frame it as refits in the RP.

Thanks to you in part I have been replaying Star Trek online since I quit playing about 6-7 years ago. Man things are so different! And several missions I liked are missing, not sure if they are truly gone or just very well hidden. I just made a fresh new character to play as it would be to hard to start back up from a higher one and refigure it out at the top. I have a liberated borg officer, which would make some of the dialogue a bit off in these episodes, but still workable. In his version of this story telling, he let the Romulan ship go, as he secretly embedded a program into their Borg systems to send out a very subtle tracer signal.

The KDF approach of honorable Close Combat really helps you out when fighting Borgs. Cut them into tiny pieces great Warriors.

Love that comment about drop kicking drones. I always wanted to see more of Worf tearing them apart with his bat'leth or mek'leth in TNG. We saw something of it in First Contact but I remember watching the show as a kid and thinking "Why doesn't Worf use his blades if they keep adapting to phasers?"

I see quite a few comments on wonder if Mark Hale is dead (of course we no he is not). However if I remember correctly the USS Armiger had quite a few warp-capable shuttles, and even a Roundabout. I would not be surprise if he used on of those for an escape as something that size would be unnoticed by the Borg. Plus there is also the fact that there are escape pods that are accessible on the bridge. As for how he could have enough time to escape; being a temporal agent he probably has limited access to the tech that saved him the first time just in case for a situation like this.

The easiest way for the Borg to assimilate new civilizations, is for them to try to implement Borg tech. The Romulans are basically assimilating themselves into the Borg collective. I would have taken the Romulan captain as a prisoner as soon I met him, and told the Romulans to flee from the Borg. If they refused to flee, I would beam everyone from their bridge, engineering, medical personal, and civilians onto my ship. Then I would destroy their ship, if they still refused to comply. They would be granted a second chance, if they agreed to flee after being beamed onto the Starfleet ship. In which case all willing Romulans would be beamed back to their ship. The Captain would remain a prisoner, as trying to implement Borg tech would violate galactic law. I assume some Romulans would prefer to join the Federation. Having Vulcans onboard, would encourage Romulans to declare amnesty.

That bug where you get stuck in the asteroid is still there in 2021. I just ran into it about a week ago.

Hm I think this mission use to have one of the demons of air and darkness show up and destroy the Borg? I could have that mistaken with another mission in this arc or it was removed by the developers.

Ah remember this mission. I don't think I ever faffed around with the remodulators and instead went with what always works - sharp stabby thing like swords, bat'leths, and pole arms. My main Tac Boff was and still is a Klingon - let's say he drew up the 'Anti-Borg Glorious Battle' procedures. Also fun Sci powers like setting them (and large parts of the ship) on fire. And now there are three types of conventional firearm weapons in the game (TR-116, Cochrane's Shotgun, and the classic Tommy Gun)...

that bug with the warp in is sort of fixed now but if and when it happens the only way i know to fix it is to have one of the consoles that allow you to warp jump a set distance and the other weirdly is a cloak

I have a bug with this mission where it continuously shuts down the game when I try to board the romulan ship

The lore is the main thing this game has going for it. The stories are amazing and so much solid user-created content. The problem is the gameplay and microtransactions. The animations have always been chunky. The ship combat is solid, but the other combat is really bad. I played a lot for a while and spent a ton of money just to make the game not as tedious with things like storage management. They just pushed to hard on the pay-to-win, monetize everything approach.

theres one question i do have, why did you out of all 3 options chose starfleet? i mean i can see the appeal of starfleet vessels but then again i do think the romulan vessels are in some significant ways surperior to both starfleet and klingon vessels (plus i think they have cooler astetics and more varying astetics and hull shapes than starfleet wich... almost always have the same shape) so what was your motivation behind choosing starfleet?

How do you beat the final cube. I have gotten destroyed by that thing over 15 under 10seconds.

when i did the mission i got disconnected during the last fight and returned inside the asteroid so i could kill the enemies but they couldn't hit me

Surprised you didn't do an impression of Kirk from Star Trek III at the end. Or are you saving that for next time? Also how did your character get off the Armiger before she was destroyed? I don't think it was mentioned in the episode... or I missed it somehow. I still don’t like that STO went with the idea that kinetics can bypass Borg shields when that doesn’t make sense in canon. Since otherwise why wouldn’t Starfleet, which has turned to old style kinetics before when phasers didn’t work as seen with the TR-116, not deploy them early given all of the samples of Borg tech they had examined after the events of Best of Both Worlds. Personally, I prefer what Star Trek: Away Team did (for the most part) where your options were grenades, phaser on overload, super high damage sniper rifle (best option in game, one I like the least for lore reasons), and a modified hypospray that basically dissolves neural tissue. There the way to bypass involves going for ways that deal an insane amount of damage or take advantage of the fact that the Borg don’t view melee range weapons as a threat (which they really aren’t most of the time).
