In this video I show all the enemies from Daikatana. Daikatana is a shooter from 2000 that gained notoriety especially because of the following aspects:
a) it was developed by John Romero, the main designer of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake (after leaving id Software in dispute and founding Ion Storm);
b) the game features four time periods: 25th century Japan, 1200 BC Greece, 560 AD Norway, and 2030 San Francisco. Enemies and weapons change accordingly;
c) the game got bad reviews and sales after several postponements and an enormous hype.
What do you think of the game? Did you play it back then?
I myself am bothered by several game design problems (e.g. relevant switches hidden in the dark) and the lousy graphics, but I don't find it so bad that it would justify the many bad reviews from back then. These are probably more due to the inflated expectations that people had built up. Overall, it's a mediocre game that is historically important for shooter fans nonetheless.
