She had no way of knowing they would be there when she was talking to Vicky. I do believe she is using Homelander as a tool to enact revenge on the world as her own independent goal, rather then working for him to reach his goals.

I think A-Train will be pivotal to taking down homelander/helping the boys. He’s the only member of the Seven who still has potential for a redemption arc. Maybe Black Noir, too, but they teased in this episode that Noir can fly… in the comics, he was a clone of Homelander with all the same powers, including flight.

Part of what made (at least the early) seasons of The Boys so good was the subversion of expectation. But the writers have gone back and forth along that subversion spectrum in the most recent season - sometimes they want us to see a character as nuanced and complex despite their plainly evil traits (like with Sister Sage) and other times they paint with a brush that is so gaudy and obvious that all subtext or nuance is destroyed (like with this attempt to paint Team Homelander as some analog to MAGA). I suspected Homelander would rip A-Train in half by the end of the show, but they've doubly and triply faked us out so many times by now that I'm not so sure. They're obviously building A-Train toward a redemption arc - they've touched on some of the ways that money and class and race have impacted prominent black characters on the show, so I feel like building A-Train up only to have Homelander rip him in half risks alienating a huge part of the audience they've tried to cultivate. I'm not saying they won't - I honestly have no idea what they'll do with him. I can see what they're trying to do with A-Train - I guess the question now is, how hard will they try to subvert our expectations?

The problem to me is the general lack of direction. Spending a whole episode to find out that Homelander is planning internment camps is hardly time well spent, we also knew he was planning to take over. I like a lot of the individual ideas and scenes, but the show needs more focus

I think A-Train could end up being the best storyline in this season if they play their cards right with the next two episodes.

If she is shot anywhere else besides the heart she most likely wouldn't die from that. MM also doesn't know about her ability to regenerate her brain. So all things considered the risk of dieing seems pretty low.

In the world of boys supes are harder to take down than a human and no 2 supes are the same they all have different abilities and resistances. Whereas every human can be taken out the same way. So if you want to kill a specific supe, you often need to figure out how to kill that specific supe as fast as possible and prepare for the right moment to take the specific supe down. (That's what the show is actually about as they are trying to figure out how to kill homelander). In my comment I stated she likely wouldn't die if you shot her anywhere besides the heart, (hell even the heart may not be enough to kill her outright) the reason for this is she can regenerate and works for a company with advanced medical technology with hero who could get her medical attention pretty fast. (E.g. A-Train who was ability to get MM to the hospital fast or homelander could fly). It's stated on her hero card in ep1 she has moderate regeneration so being shot in the body may not be as bad as a normal person, she probably would have survived being shot a few times center mass and not fallen to the ground for an easy headshot as a human. (mm would be aware of this if he seen her hero information/ card). Talking of hero card, it's not stated on the hero card that she can regenerate her brain specifically it's possible that this is a hidden ability of hers if this wasn't mentioned on her hero card. (MM never found this information as he shot sage in the brain). Also in the situation sage was unarmed, heading in the direction of an alarm which she was very close too to begin with and mm was at close range with the knowledge she is a supe and could probably tank a few bullets to the chest before she pulled the alarm to alert every hero in the building. All things considered if you where going to shoot her it would probably be in the head as he obviously didn't know about her brain regeneration ability and anywhere else would have risked her pulling the alarm.

the quality of the episode seems to correlate with the amount of homelander we see on screen. and i'm not surprised tbf

Kinda like when Butcher and Starlight carjacked and murdered that innocent guy in season 2, and then made fun of him after he was dead, “Why did that stupid fuck draw a gun”. The show will sometimes fall into the very thing they mock. Where the “Good Guys” are entitled to do whatever the fuck they want, and it’s fine because they are the “heroes.”

The only one who escalated the situation was Butcher. He decided to claim “I’m an FBI agent” and when the guy, very reasonably, asked to see a badge, Butcher did not show one. Not sure why Butcher would lie about that without his fake badge on hand. Regardless, that’s when the guy decides to pull out his gun, questioning if Hugie is really hurt. Which is a reasonable thing to do. The “injured person” carjacking technique is well known. And in a very possible scenario Hugie wasn’t really hurt, and when the guy approached they would hav stabbed him to death and stolen the car. And despite the gun being drawn, Butcher decides to escalate even further. Smirking at the guy and approaching him. That’s when the guy looks like he is going to shoot, and starlight blasts him. Look, I doubt starlight wanted or intended to kill that guy. She was desperate to save Hughie and doing whatever she could to save him. But her attitude afterwards really rubbed me the wrong way. Calling the guy a “dumb fuck” for trying to defend himself. And leaving that guy to rot on the side of the road. No effort to check in on the guys family. No guilt or mention of him ever again, like his death was inconsequential to her. Really ruined her character for me.

I never seen so much stuff in one episode of this show. The kink, the fluids, certain kind of people being portrayed as pathetic and humiliated, the one sided tabloid level of political messaging... if anything, the gore in this was moderate.

Well it showed Sage has her own agenda with Victoria and they are undermining Homelander. It’s also setting up big pay offs for the politician side of things. One thing I didn’t like is Homelander reverting to needing that milk shit again. But he does keep bottles of milk so I guess he just relapses when things don’t go his way.

I agree, I don't feel like this episode really progressed the plot, but I can the say the same for the majority of the episodes and at least this one was fun. No Frenchie and I had way more laughs than I've had with multiple episodes combined.

I think Sage is pulling strings and if they do it well, I think it could save some of the writing this season. Agreed. i think this is a "Game Of Thrones got worse after S4" situation, just takes a long time for the audience to realize until the copium and hype has settled. The writers are clearly losing focus and are putting bad shock value over interesting character development and plotlines

@TheGodvszombies Yeah I've seen this cope before & it ended poorly. We have 10 episodes left of the show. The final quarter. It's time to chop heads & tie of stories, not introduce new villains & shock value stuff. Time has passed for that.

Homelander has super sense of smell. He knew the sweat was hughie just from sense of smell earlier THIS SEASON. He would not only smell the blood all over the study sage was shot in, he would smell the blood on her face and the napkin she was holding to her head, he would smell the gun powder and primer she’d be coated in getting shot point blank like that. He would immediately start looking through walls and find kimiko in season 1. But here he’s like “what happened to you?” She says “brain damage” and he’s like “oh ok cool”

I literally skip every scene with hughie or frenchie. Hell sometimes sister sage as well. All their dialogue and scenes are so fuckin cringe. Mother milk is a battered house wife atp and is being overused when he's just such a basic archetype of a character unfortunately. We just need to focus in homelander and billy butcher. That's it. Those are the only interestint characters and current conflicts we have going on in the show. A train is good too but he's just very minor to the shows main plot. All the DEI funded characters just need to have 0 screen time from now on
