Mirror Neurons are a cluster of cells in our brains that fire both when you take an action, but also when you see someone else take an action. These cells give us an accelerated ability to learn, and may play a part in empathy.

Thanks for the idea. Next time I make a video that I am planning to share with people I'll make sure there are things in the background behind me. I'll take a break or two and start back where I left off... only for those who are very observent one book in the background may have a different title and my roach spray is no longer there but bedbug spray is there instead! Small note: Autonomous cars dont learn by watching each other, they just have the same brain.
@JohnnyWednesday
@JohnnyWednesday 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the system. You can train neural networks by breeding generations of actors - those that perform the best? are the parents of the next generation, so on and so forth. All of those actors could be in a single simulation and all the cars run a copy of the best agent. But some companies use individual cars as the actor and collect all the data to produce the next generation. In that context? they effectively do learn by 'watching' each other.

@claudiolluberes111 4 жыл бұрын
They have their own brains connected to a bigger brain.
@edeneden97
@edeneden97 4 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyWednesday from what i know no one uses genetic algorithms (what you said about "breeding") to train neural networks for autonomous cars. And the cars usually learn from actual experience and not a simulation. Also, learning from data gathered from all cars and applying the same neural network for all cars is exactly the thing i called "having the same brain".
@Mr.MarcusMario
@Mr.MarcusMario 4 жыл бұрын
Like a hive mind.
@JohnnyWednesday
@JohnnyWednesday 4 жыл бұрын
@@edeneden97 - it's not true genetic algorithms but rather a selection of nets - google for example is training a number of models in different driving conditions - a highway model is different from the city model - production cars? will all 'have the same brain' - but right now? the 'best' brain hasn't matured. Two separate sessions may produce similar outputs while having weighted paths that are quite different from each other. So yes - right now there are multiple brains with different sets of data as they are in a position where a new batch of data could fix previously failed scenarios but also cause new failure conditions. IE Now the car doesn't hit the truck because it swung out into the opposite lane - next thing you know a car on the other side of the country ploughs into the front of a bus because a construction truck was reversing into a site entrance. Lots of models with pros and cons - very genetic-like.

Oh yeah that makes me want to ask; why is that even a thing...? Is it purely an empathy thing? If that's the case for yawning, why not for sneezing or similar, relatively trivial actions? I understand that if we see someone be sick, we might get the urge to be sick ourselves as we've evolved in an environment where if someone in the tribe is vomiting, it's likely you've eaten what's making them sick as well, meaning it might be good for your health if your body's ready to puke lol - but I really can't see how contagious yawning would increase a genetic groups fitness

I'm not entirely certain. I'm part of an outlier group, neurodiverse people. I'm autistic and my brain isn't set up to function this way. We don't mirror nonverbal communications posture or tone subconsciously. However when it comes to empathy neurodiverse people will often display more empathy that neurotypical people. the difference is that neurodiverse people will often lack the understanding. We won't show empathy to someone who is "obviously upset" because we won't perceive that they are upset. Suggesting that a certain type of empathy is what makes someone truly human is simply incorrect. the-art-of-autism.com/autistic-people-empathy-whats-the-real-story/ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pL6TiJupxN6vYWw.html

As an individual with Autism, I can say that I personally had to learn how to read nonverbal and vocal cues. The way I like to put it is that while most people had this skill pre-installed, I had to code it myself, or have some help coding it. No idea on the mirror neurons, but I did have difficulty learning things like dancing and martial arts even if I love both.

There is also a condition called Mirror-touch synesthesia. Individuals with this condition are able to feel the same sensations as the people they are seeing, including pain. Enhanced activity of the mirror neurons could be the cause of such a condition.

I felt like I read my son's mind in my dreams and when I confronted him over the matter he agreed and we were mind-boggled by this experience, also other times I've read his mind when he was present too..so we practice this weird phenomenon.

You should check out Elaine Aaron’s book and research on the HSP. These people have supercharged mirror neurons. Anyhow, the highly sensitive person is hard to live with but will see things others can’t. Interesting.

I got a weird story, for you. While walking down a sidewalk, VERY early in the morning, on the edge of a BIG parking lot, I made friends with a local kitty cat. I had seen the cat for a long time, and it finally let me pet it. We were far from the residential area (where all the other kitty cats "hang out".) I had some potato chips with me, and so I gave My New Friend some of my potato chips. Across the remainder of the week, along the same street, about 3 blocks away, whenever I would go out early in the morning to get some munchies, the cats over in the Residential Area would come up to me and "motion" like they were waiting for me to throw some potato chips on the ground (even if I didn't have any potato chips with me, yet.) It was as if the cat that I "made friends with" mysteriously "told" all the OTHER cats something like "Hey! He's the guy who hands out potato chips!" Do domestic House Cats have their own version of the 'Hundredth Monkey effect' ? See . . . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundredth_monkey_effect

Joe, You think mirror neurons are interesting, check out human empaths. In this paradigm there are three classifications of humans, 80% are everybody else, 20% are sensitive otherwise called HSPs/highly sensitive people or sensory processing sensitivity, the third classification are empaths. Empaths feel energy and emotions from people and places. They also experience feeling pain from others, and exhaustion from others. All this without even necessarily knowing the source of their experience is presents. The phenomenon is entirely energetic, empaths have these experiences without empirically knowing how another person is feeling. It would be awesome if you were to do a deep dive on this subject and make a related video.
