@@henryevans7205 I came to say the same thing,,,lol. Actually, you can see a teardown on an older episode of Top Gear where Clarkson tips it over a few times and it was shedding parts each time. Though that may technically be tearing it apart. Lol. Only tools he used was the steering wheel, the gas pedal and asphalt roads to convert the car from a single assembly into multiple assemblies. But obviously Mr Munroe would be much more methodical while using language to describe the process clear and concise rather than "Oh dear God", "What in bloody hell" and the ever common, "James, look at what you've made me do". 🤭

Once you hear his lip slapping, you can never unhear it. Sounds like an Ev pyramid scheme using the slingshot prototype? He might be wrong about setting up dealer networks, I would think you should follow Assembly factory and various warehouse strategy like amazon. People buy without seeing the car now. Personally, combine this idea with TATA Nano, and you got something. But sacrificing the back seat of a corolla for about the same price, doesn't make much sense yet. If i want two seater, i'll still choose Can-am- Doors for what!

The Top Gear Reliant Robin piece was a complete setup. There was nothing wrong with the Reliant Robin per se, but as usual Clarkson and Top Gear rigged the Robin to severely tip over. The first thing they did was weld the differential so that when the inner wheel lifted power was still directed to the outer wheel so allowing the tip over. Then they cut down the drivers side rear suspension spring to make the car roll really badly on a left hand turn. If they could find a road with severe camber so much the better. The Robin was a wobbly beast and thoroughly unpleasant to drive but in no way was it anywhere near as bad as Clarkson portrayed it.

Isn't it the obvious trend in the US right now that larger vehicles are what people are demanding? Personally, I wouldn't consider buying anything smaller in seating/cargo capacity than a Honda CRV. People will accept the shift to the three-wheeled concept if the vehicle itself is larger and offered the space people are used to. A 2-seater for $25k is a "toy". In all seriousness: The first company to make a 25k, 250-mile range MINIVAN for families and everyday, normal use will make a KILLING. Why, it's "P.T. Bricklin"! You know, the one who coined the phrase "There's a sucker born every minute" and spent most of his "career" exploiting this truism. Can we expect that before the end of 2020 we will see the debut & showcasing of the new DeLorean TMC ("Tri Motor Car")? I'll bet they'll have a real nifty set of slides with cool renderings. Sandy, it seems you are on the path of being used as a "name" to provide some credibility and attract investor money. First by Archimoto, now by Bricklin. Fiskar just got his sucker money deal or he might have been next. Think of your name as valuable "branding" like Disney or Apple and use it as a licensing $$$ opportunity. Both make more money in licensing than anything else they do. Note: they get cash up front. As for the question about 3 or 4 wheels, it is less important than 2 or 4 passengers. Back in the 60s there was a push at Ford for a 2 seat Mustang. It was quickly determined that it would be a marketing disaster, even though the rear seats were unusable for teens and adults, people wanted the rear seats.

I thought that the 3-wheel craze that Sandy seems to be perpetrating was, well, crazy. Then I am starting to realize that Tesla may well stop selling vehicles to the public by 2030. way too many red flags. way too old-school in his thinking (dealerships, areas/territories assigned to dealers, mandatory commitment of millions for an unproven machine). I think this one is a big nope, but I could be wrong. I think he needs to look long and hard at how Tesla is doing it... drive costs down, vertically integrate, sell direct to the public via internet... and soon Tesla will come out with a 25K car and where does that leave the 3-wheeled market??? Unless it sells for ~10K, it is dead in the water.

When I first heard him talking about his dealership model I thought it all sounded very old fashioned. And then I heard his idea for hiring veterans and I realized he may just have a hook. The Tesla anti-dealership model likely wouldn't work for his target market: retired people. It sounds like hes got the perfect pitch for retired folks. But my big overarching question for all of these small 3 wheeled vehicle companies is: how does all of them build a seperate dealership model? Or do they all end up lumped together at a 3 wheeler store? Can you sell a Briklin, Nobe, and Archimoto under the safe roof or is that too much of the same thing in one place?

Sandy I can't see how a "gyroscope chip" can substitute for a gyroscope in producing resisting torque to sideways rolling when going too fast for a bend on level ground? No amount of air suspension adjustment driven by the gyro chip will make a difference to counteract the centrifugal rolling torque.. The normal resisting force upwards from the ground on the outside wheels is limited by the weight of the car.... Air suspension or not. Am I missing or misunderstanding something Sandy? Are you saying the car will lean into the bend via the air suspension to create an increased opposing torque? Like a motorbike

This is in relation to a comment I made below, and I've had some time to think about it. Why does a trailer have to be a dead weight? Everyone is concerned about EV trucks and towing capacity. What if all trailers also had drive? Batteries and motors can be located to maximise load capacity. The trailer can be linked to the cars logic systems to created a smart unit. A caravan needs power for cooking and lighting, just integrate it with driving the wheels. Driving a trailers wheels would also help when manoeuvring when not hooked up to a vehicle. Hell, with a BT link you could use your phone to direct the trailer where you wanted.

Claims car is inherently stable and has superior handling. Hmmm, it’s a 3 wheeler and no 3 wheeler to date can be described as inherently stable. By the sheer nature of having only 3 wheels makes it unstable, admittedly having the single wheel at the rear does work better than having the single wheel at the front but and it is a big but, in no way can this design be described as safer than a vehicle having a wheel in every corner. Back to the drawing board I think.

Never thought I'd seen a Bricklin car outside of the museum in NewBrunswick :)) That said, a 3-wheeler is indeed a great optoion for an EV considering they'll be cheaper than cars yet have more batteries & a faster charger than a motorcycle. Here in Quebec, we're producing the BRP Spyder that proves there's a demand for 2 front wheels 3 wheelers. But could this drive in winter??

@2:52 “Guys, if we take off a wheel, how much weight do we save?...1500 lbs.” I’m certain I can add a wheel and not add 1500 lbs. The main reason these 3-wheel vehicles are coming out is they can bypass most safety regulations, although I believe NHTSA is trying to block that loophole. If he wants to build a safe car like he attempted in the SV-1. The new car design looks nice from the front until you see they forgot the 4th wheel. Make it 4-wheeled and required to pass safety standards and maybe Elon Musk will be more receptive to helping. Elon Musk doesn’t like motorcycles or anything registered as one. Lol

I really like the idea of a three wheel car, but until now it has to be two at the front and one at the back because of the stability. If individual electronic control of each wheel and each suspension unit removed the instability then that would really take off.

I searched for it and the argument i found was "Problem is not dynamics, but rather that they're not required to meet car safety standards." If that is the only reason, then i find it good that you support safe 3-wheeled cars.
@patreekotime4578
@patreekotime4578 3 жыл бұрын
They are dramatically less safe as ICE vehicles because they arnt stable with a high center of gravity. That problem is largely fixed with batteries in the floor. But even with batteries in the floor the vehicle will always be less stable going in the direction of the single wheel. Especially the single wheel can't steer or the vehicle will just pitch over. Most 3 wheeled cars put the single wheel in the back, which means you cant really safely put them into reverse. They also have very limited seating and luggage capacity. Elon likely doesnt like them because they ARE less safe than 4 wheeled vehicles and he probably feels it is not worth fighting the public peeception on that when hes also fighting public perception that EVs suck.
@archigoel

Elon has never driven them, because we never have "3-wheelers" like this. He drove a dirt bike and almost died in an accident...which I think has left some mental scars. So he does not like motorcycles.
@AlexxMk2
@AlexxMk2 3 жыл бұрын
The testing required is less costly so it could more open to abuse, least that's what I understand from Elon's response. That said, their design seems to have sufficient crash protection. And a three wheeled design in this configuration is very stable, mainly due to the battery pack placement. I honestly I really like the way car looks for the most part but can't get over the three wheeled aspect. The Reliant Robin was considered the most awful car in the UK during the 80's and 90's, it's wheel placement inverse and unstable compared to Bricklin 3EV. The arguments for dumping the 4th wheel are excellent but I think peoples vanity and the history of three wheeled cars might have them reconsidering. It's worth looking at the slide deck, all these innovations are pretty amazing: munrolive.com/bricklin-3ev

3 wheelers are niche products that will never be mainstream even if cheaper. Tesla has a solid plan for cost reduction of the battery and some structural elements. Companies like Canoe and Arrival have ways to completely eliminate parts of the manufacturing process and eliminate capital. Removing an entire wheel is a severe, low quality move.

My question is whether this is for a "normal" two-seater and a fully optioned two-seater, or if this is for a tw-seater and a four/five seater variant? I'm hoping for the latter, as a two-seater mostly won't cut it for families.
