The Brightin Star 28mm F2.8 (Pancake) Lens, With the Leica M240

Күн бұрынIn this presentation, I recently purchased the Brightin Star 28mm F2.8 full frame manual focus lens for the Leica-M mount cameras. I mounted it on my Leica M240 and began photographing with it to try it out. I would like to share my thoughts with you in this episode.

Great video! Do you think the rear element would interfere with the meter on the CL?

Thanks Jonathon, and a great question. The short answer is, I don't know. And I'm hazarding a guess this is for the digital 'CL'? You might consider looking into a TL adopter that takes 'M' mount lens. I have one I have used to marry up my SL2-S with my 'M' mount lenses. It’s for the original Film CL. Seems like it’s compatible with the M5 which has a very similar metering system to the CL. Thank you!

Good review describing all the idiosyncrasies of this lens. I found a 25.5 UV Pentax filter on eBay that fits nicely. I might try adapting the 30.5 Rollei lens hood and see if I still can access the flat aperture ring around the lens. The lens is sharper with less distortion and vignetting than my other pancake lens, the Lomo 28mm Minitar-M. It’s a great lens you can carry all day as your primary or backup wide.

I know. Who knew, right. Another alternative for those who can't afford high end lens but want to photograph using a Leica 'M' or 'L' platform for its simplistic operation. And there are some good lenses out there; TTArtisan, Voigtlander, Panasonic Lumix, Sigma making an impression on the market.
