What a player . Biggest defensive talent I've ever seen . He's playing out of position in a new league remember. His technique, skill and talent on the ball rivals any midfielder and that on top of his defensive skills, heading ability, reading of the game and passing ability . Plus he has a mean shot on him. He's complete already and will get better and better .

He played midfielder most of his youth years while being in very technical Dinamo Zagreb youth academy which is in top 5 in europe, sometimes he played even a winger he said, thats where his composure on the ball and technique are from. He is kinda wasted on left back in my opinion because his best performances by far were as ball playng central defender where he can link both sides and contribute ball on both sides also. He just turned 22 years 3 months ago and in 3 years when he get priceless experience, reach his prime years and his body fully develop he will be unstopable. City got themselfs a true gem here.

While I agree he is definitely a ball player. Which is great in a defender for man city. He is nowhere near the skill levels of cancelo attacking. He is better than cancelo defending yes , but cancelo was world class attacking player, I think probably one of the best attackers back in 2022. Which includes the likes of sterling.

This season he has been mostly playing as left back. I don't like it. He was good, but I would prefer him develop as potential all-time great centre back than to be (just) very good fullback. He will never cross the ball like the best and be as comfortable on the side. In the middle he is most complete. Strong, fast, intelligent, technical, pretty much no flaws in his game with potential for greatness.

Nah Messi just ran around him, never had the clear shot on goal, Joško closed that. Messi passed the ball to Alvarez, and that is normal. That run around Joško was what took Messi to even pass the ball.
