I’m trying to imagine KISS covering this song. Pyrotechnics, thundering explosions, shouting (as opposed to singing), etc. So painfully bad, but still good for a laugh.

This song always reminded our mother of our father Jimmy whitsett. Little did we know that in his short life it would indeed fit his life. I listen to this with tears as both our mother and father have passed. He to met my mother in a small valley community and were married in a small country chruch. He became a preacher but at the age of 42 he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and died five days later. His funeral was held in a small town chruch not any bigger than a village and many turned out to say their goodbyes. Our Mother passed away a few years back, and it won't be long before I too will go to join them . This song did cause my eyes to fiil with tears but yet at the same time it was heartwarming to listen to it, because it takes me back when both were here and all was happy. We didn't have a lot, never wanted a lot, but our valley called eagle creek was indeed the happiest times of my two sisters and myself lifes , and all the love and kindness shown from the people of eagle creek valley we could always know and feel from the people who lived there the love and caring for each other as well you could feel the goodness in each and everyone of them. It was the best days of our life's and we were very blessed to have them and to look back now sometimes its sad because everything changes but we will always cherish and treasure those memories.

Thanks for making me bawl like a baby early evening, Saturday July 16, 2016. Just heard that his remaining sister died today at age 77. I was 11 years old when Little Jimmy Brown was a hit in Los Angeles. About the same time as great oldies but goodies were beginning to churn out, of every genre of music. I absolutely LOVE this song. Before The Beatles. Before the Rolling Stones. About the time the Four Seasons were singing Sherry Baby. My mommy died when I was not quite six years old in 1957. She was only 27; a Mississipian. I saw her beautiful body, spirit and soul in an open casket in Culver City, California. Somehow, when Little Jimmy Brown played on the radio in LA on the Top 40, I fell in love with this song. It comforted me so much. I went on to become a rock and roller; singing solo on the same stage at Pacoima Jr High as Ritchie Valens had, six years before, recording live versions of La Bamba and Donna. At age 12. Had the same Home Room number 21 aa Ritchie, and same Home Room Teacher, Mr. Webb. (a kind black teacher, by color). The Valens family lived four blocks from me on Artesia Ave. I picked up my first guitar at age 15; really learned how to play at age 20. And have been playing guitar now for 45 years. But The Browns was my first spiritual, musical awakening. Then came George Harrison, musically speaking. God Bless the entire Brown Family, and friends. R.I.P., dear Sister Brown. Much love, and many, many things. You have a great new family, happily waiting for you in Heaven. DR

About 10 years ago my folks were fortunate to see Jim Ed Brown and his sisters perform. My parents ran into Jim as everyone was leaving. Mom and Jim began talking and found out that they were from the same area of their youth. Mr. Brown was so kind to my folks and invited them to have supper in a small diner with he and his sisters. My folks and the Browns ended up talking most of the night away. My mom passed away on Aug 11, 2016. She frequently spoke of that evening and this song was played for her funeral. I find myself smiling at the thought of them talking each other’s ears off now.

They just got better over time. I love the extra depth and timbre in his voice. This song always reminds me of the comfort and beauty of having a church family throughout your life.

They were the best trio, with Jim Ed's rich voice and the harmony of his sister's, they were incomparable to any others. They set s mark for excellence that will take years, if ever, to match, let alone surpass.
