How does a guy go from living the DREAM to taking the mound in the Florida Complex League all in one season? This is a breakdown of Alek Manoah's brutal decline.

This is why mindset is such a huge part of sports. This guys attitude and ethic says it all. Could see it from a mile away.

One bad doesn’t mean he’ll be like this for the rest of his career. He’s gonna comeback

I think the "deserved decline" is more fitting. If you don't put in effort and have an attitude problem this is what you get

He needs to humble himself and check his attitude at the door first

attitude is only an issue when the player sucks. there’s plenty of players with attitude who are very good to excellent, such as Marcus Stroman and Juan Soto on NY. I think Manoahs issues largely revolve around his terrible ability to locate pitches, and he doesn’t have enough velocity or movement on his pitches to make up for the terrible location skills

Wanted him to turn into a David Wells or CC type of guy. Biggest problem with the massive weight is his conditioning.

Ohtani in 2022 had the slowest pitch tempo, but he obviously adjusted, though maybe that's why he ended up under the knife. Manoah never adjusted. My guess is he has deferred power to the clock rather than himself, and with his on field arrogance taking forever to pitch the baseball back in the day, he's been castrated.

Bartolo Colon would lose velocity when he lost weight. Not sure if Monoah is cut from the same cloth though.

I actually just got off the phone with Manoah and he said last year was not a fluke and he just sucks now forever

Why does he look 5'10

I was just thinking this lol. He’s one of the largest pitchers too. I think it’s his arm to body ratio.

It will be interesting to see how the Jays handle him. I have heard some low level rumors about possibly trading him. They have a solid pitching staff currently with Gausman, Berrios, Bassitt, and Kikuchi. However, everyone I just mentioned except Berrios is 32+ years old. As a Braves fan, we had a lot of patience for Kyle Wright and were rewarded with his 2022 breakout season. Currently, it seems it was a one-off season and he is no longer with the team, but the point I was making is that Manoah can definitely turn it around even if it looks bleak currently!

If he wants to actually address his issues... Everything we saw last season says he wasn't going to

Berrios is the youngest their he’s only 29. And manoah is going to have a bounce back season you just gotta believe in the guy.
