Uhh, yeah...kinda forgot that this game is pretty nonsensical, guys. Sorry. But wow, i did NOT expect a name drop from you guys! Now I can only hope you enjoy at least one of my suggestions or I'll be in for it. I should mention that Moon Crystal? Very difficult. Cocoron is KINDA difficult, depending on what you do. See, Cocoron is a "build your own character" game. You select the head, the body, and the weapon. They determine you hit points, your weight, and special function (boats float on water, jet and winged bodies hover, etc). And for the love of god, if you play this, make sure the first or second character you make has a boat body. If you guys make it to the last section and don't have a boat, you will know pain. Oh, and a jet body in the first three. Trust me on this.

@@sl3nd3r_3 the over world map has individual screens. East takes them to the last screen they cleared with the blow dart guy. The map also shows you giant walls blocking your path, which is that big stone they were confused about. I did not know this game existed and I’ve looked up zero information. The bridge has ropes hanging that probably show the weak zones. You maybe can just sprint across the bridge. I don’t know how the grapnel works, but it’s likely user error and a lack of proper tutorial (not that they’d have read it). The first temple is clearly that building two tiles to the east of the wall screen that the walkthrough mentioned. This game is basically zelda 1+2 mixed and he thinks it’s megaman. I wanted to figure out how difficult this game was so I went and got it real quick from vimm. Apparently all you have to do at the bridge is crawl across and you automatically jump the moment the bridge starts to crumble. The game auto saves you and there is no chance of dying if you just crawl... also the grappnel apparently is usable at ledges to climb up ledges. You just have to walk up against a wall and use it and it makes you climb. Arin just not really trying what the game provided him with.

For those who were wondering, you're not expected to memorize which parts of the bridge collapse - you find a "bridge map" in the temple that causes Stanley to automatically bounce upwards when he steps on a bad bridge section. Also, there's a strength power-up southeast of the port that dramatically reduces the number of punches needed to defeat enemies.

What I like about this game is that it is basically a testament to how games in our childhood (those of us old enough to remember NES and SNES anyway) did NOT hold your hand on anything and you just had to grin and bear it and just through sheer trial and error and a million deaths find your way through - not that there aren't difficult games now but back THEN it was totally different because you did not have the internet, you did not have anything or anyone to help you out at ALL unless maybe you called in to one of those hotlines that gave you a hint that MIGHT be helpful - and you had to hope your parents were willing to even let you make that one call - and even THEN there were just so many ways to die that you just HAD to power through a lot of games back then. A modern game would give you some indicator that this part of the bridge was weak - maybe it looks a little different or has bits crumbling off of it, but no, not back then. THEN we had to just take the L and plummet to our death and start again and try another tile. And you know what? SO much more satisfying back then when you DID finally beat a hard game. You really felt like you did that ALL by yourself - rather than just pulling out your smart phone and looking it up. You know how crazy of a realization it was when you FINALLY realized how to handle Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid? It was on the back of the case the WHOLE TIME but so many of us never realized it until we had almost driven ourselves crazy trying to figure it out (and while the internet was around this was early days yet, so sites were REALLY sparse and not terribly easy to find) If you're under 30 to 35 and don't remember these kinds of games, I invite you to do this to get the full experience of what WE went through: buy an old CRT TV set from like the early 90s if you can find one that still works. Buy an original NES console and connect it to your CRT TV. Buy a BUNCH of cartridges for that NES that still work. You are allowed one strategy guide for your favorite of the bunch but it has to be a physical PRINTED one that came out back then. Take your smart phone and any modern devices with ANY connection to the internet and put them in a bag and put them AWAY. To get the full experience, you can't use them - at all - not even once. No cheats or you didn't really experience it. Just plan for like ONE WEEK (or at least a weekend) where you are TOTALLY cut off from the internet - entirely. In fact, get rid of anything from your general area - certainly that room - that was made after, say, 1993. ONLY put things in there 1993 and before. Get some drinks, some snacks (ok, you don't have to try to eat early 90s snacks, you can get modern ones but get ones that were around in the late 80s to early 90s), and sit on the floor in a room lit only by the glow of that TV. Now spend a weekend or even a week JUST living like that. Just gaming. You're permitted a pen and paper to write down codes or map out levels. See you in a week. Return to this post and let me know how it was if this was your first time. How was it? Well....now you know. Now you know. ;)

Thanks for bringing this game to my attention. Never heard of it. after the video i grabbed the game and started playing it myself. This game is the definition of hidden gem. Hopefully the grumps come back to this game cause I feel like they would have a lot of fun and its not too hard compared to most games on the NES library. crossing the bridge is very cryptic though. You have to crawl across and your guy will automatically hop over the parts that fall out. I hope the grumps get this information and give the game another shot. Also the grapnel is hit and miss where you can use it, but to actually use it you have to be standing a space away from the ledge you want to try and hook it to and hold the buttons down until you reach the platform you climb up to. assuming its a ledge that the grapnel can even hook onto.

Hey help the grumps see this, the incase they didn’t figure out the bridge during this recording session, the ropes mark where the bridge goes out, 1st hanging rope under the bridge to the second is out, 2nd to 3rd is ok, 3rd to 4th is out and so on with all the support beams being ok no matter what.

I friggin swear my dude, these guys have a psychic connection to me or something. I swear I was just singing both welcome to the jungle and holy diver today. This keeps happening with just the most random crap. I'll say something, think about a meme, or sing something to myself and later it's in the video. I might just be watching too much grumps. Maybe i shouldn't fall asleep listening to 12 hours of game grumps.

So as a child you play this game for weeks or months to beat it an Stanley finally finds his man and just say, "Dr. Livingston I presume. " then fade to black. Very satisfying.

Having never played Stanley before I've learned two things from this playthrough. One: the bridge tiles only collapse when he stops moving on them. Two: the grapnel will almost certainly work if he attempts to use it on the rock tiles but also tries using a button to grab with it.

What about DOS games? Like; Captain Comic; Halloween Harry; Biomenace; Commander Keen; Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure; Duke Nukem (you guys didn't finish the second game on steam train); Quadrilian; Mutant Space Bats; Downland; Trafic Patrol; and Hugo's House of Horrors. Most of these can be found on shareware/abandonware sites. I think you'll enjoy most of them, especially Hugo.
