The Bushmen are great. No matter what you think you have or don't have, just being alive is a gift and if you've got family, friends and your health, well celebrate because you're rich.

0:45 this team is my favorite team to watch on outback opal hunters. The man has a huge heart. He cares about Les like his own Father. I'm from Anchorage Alaska and would live to meet the man. Great show.

The buyer has such an incredible advantage in these transactions. He knows the product better, what he can sell it for and he has the negotiating skills the buyers frequently lack. The sellers are often desperate to make a sale and have few options, so they are likely to take any offer that is borderline acceptable.

Does anyone know if this is classified as rough opal? I read opal can go for $50 -$30,000 per gram. These guys are getting about $160 per gram and it seems like high quality opal. There seems to be so many variables that make up price like colour, shape, size etc. It’s like these middle men (buyers) make the most money in regards to the effort , time , initial cost layout and risk compared to the miners.

I'm probably going to get roasted for this, but the buyers always seem to get the better deal. The miners have to dig through dirt and rock in the heat and the flies, and put their lives at risk. The buyers just sit around with cash in their pockets waiting to make a, "deal." And they never seem to give a fair one. Just my opinion. 😐💦👎

I assume the risks the buyers make, is that they are buying stones in the rough. Hence, it is a speculation if the stones are actually worth as much as they paid for it.

All they had to do was carry a large amount of cash and then a large amount of gems from there to when they finally sell. That buyer has a buyer working him too. LOL As a miner, the selling is the worst part of it.

That’s the issue with a beggar situation. I really respect these guys but they always seem to low ball their deals before the buyers offer. I really respect them. But they need to negotiate smart.
