Anyone else think that low mileage is overrated? I feel like that super duper low miles on 25 year old car causes as many problems as it potentially saves. Of course that could just be sour grapes since I can't afford a low mileage classic anyways.
@EJleon963 ай бұрын
Yes, 100% typical Corvette owners that are full of themselves aka the old timers, will say anything over 15k is “high mileage” and when they find their 20 year old garage queen with 5k they wonder why they run into so many issues: 1. Cars that are barely driven suffer from things like cracked hoses, leaks, bad tires etc. 2. Bugs from the factory haven’t made themselves known. You are ultimately better off with a car with more mileage since it’s already been broken in and it’s bugs most likely ironed out. Lastly, if you actually intend to drive your car and not keep it inside a garage forever why the hell would you pay close to original msrp? Value will diminish quickly on the garage queens and not so much on cars that have already been driven and devalued.

I have a 98 c5 new tires transmission went through. For 13.000. I know where there is a 90 good shape 42000mi for 12000.

as the other guy said the low low low mileage isnt something you really want. the seals along w many other things are most likely bad. guaranteed you will have leaks along w many issues as its never been used. its horrible on cars for them to just sit and never be used. id take one w 80k miles long before id take one w 5k miles on it. the 80k one will have far less issues as it was actually used. seals and all rubber goes bad when they sit for many yrs and are never driven.

Good information! I bought a 01 C5 Light Pewter Metallic 10 years ago with 75k miles for $15k. Very clean and already had a few typical repairs and upgrades. I am extremely happy with all the bolt mods and personal touches. I didn’t give the Zo6 much of a look after I found this one. I even bought an automatic so my wife could enjoy driving it. Keep looking at C7 and C8, but I just love my C5. It’s bad ass and is awesome to drive when you keep up with all the maintenance and ownership of an old car. The Corvette community is a lot of fun!

Picked up an 01 z06 with 100,200 miles for $17k and change w/ a spare Corsa Sport axle back. It's not perfect, but no dents, very few scratches, and it's pristine underneath. 5k miles ago it had the transmission rebuilt, torque tube bearings, new slave, clutch, and remote clutch bleeder done... time will tell if they were done right... ;) Some maintenance items, an alignment (it was way off), and she drives like a queen.

Just thought, me being andv old guy would chime in, bought my first vett in 1968, after getting out of the service, a 63 split window 340 horse 4 spd from a car lot for $2400, drove it like it was ment to be driven, i met my future wife, she was driving a 64 roadster,after 55 years together we have 2 c5's an 02 torch red roadster, automatic for the wife and an 00 black frc for me, both have a little over 40k on them, we just took a trip in the frc from northern california to LA, to Vegas, to Reno, to Idaho, and back no problems, also got 32 mpg cruising at 75-85 mph, yes i'm old but will always own a vett, if your looking to buy one, find a nice one thats been taken care of with about 30-40k ,and you can't go wrong.

Just bought a yellow '02 that presents as a 25k mile car (minus the drivers seat, which looks like a 50k mile car) but has 107k miles on it. The car is SO clean. $22k.

I do agree that prices have leveled off, but will not come down to pre-pandemic prices again. I am in the market next year for a 2004 Torch Red Z06. Expecting to pay at least 28K next year.

I was very lucky getting my 2002 Z06..im second owner is 650hp all documented 70,000 when I got it is been 2 years now is 71,000 I hardly drive it..I got it in 2022 because the first owner was very sick he couldn't drive it anymore . A month after I got it some one over me 8,000 more that what I paid for because I got a super deal. I was a lucky one I guess.. But if you have a good one out there hold on to it because in 5 to 10 years this baby's will cost a lot

I bought an 03 Z06 in electron blue last summer with 81K miles on it. I paid $22K for it. $2K of that price was for an extended service contract that the dealership offered.

Through attrition over 20+ years. I would bet of the 18k made, roughly a thousand were exported overseas. A lot of Corvettes end up in Florida & the Gulf Coast which is prone to flooding and other natural disasters. This is a performance car so people tend to be a little more 'stupid' with them so they end up having a higher crash rate. Also, a lot and I mean A LOT of these were converted to purpose driven track cars that can never be converted back to stock. Lastly, just Google 'C5 Z06 wrecks' and you will see hundreds of examples totalled.

Depends. A FRC? If so it's priced right with decent miles. If a coupe & Auto probably around 14.5k is appropriate. (Unless it has under 10k miles)
