I’ve had the original 1dx launch and still love. It’s still working great at one million actuations

My son does concert photography. Currently runs an EOS R, and a C70 for video. He is looking at a low shutter count 1D-X mark II to pair with the EOS R. I told him to try it out for a few months. If he doesn't like it he can always sell and pick up a used R5 or R6 mark II.

Hello Joe, Congrats on your beautiful channel and videos! I have turned PRO in 2022 with a Canon 1DX Mark II, I didn't afford to buy one at that time because it was very expensive, but I was working as a photographer for a friend and he gave me this camera and I paid it by working for him taking weddings from him and thus learning also wedding photography. I have to say it was the best strategic decision. This camera changed everything, I have the following Canon L lenses, 24mm 1.4L Mark II, 50mm 1.2L, 85mm 1.2L, 100mm f/2.8L macro, 70-200 f/2.8L IS Mark II, 24-70 f/2.8L Mark II and 400mm f/5.6. My main wedding lenses are 24mm, 50mm and 85mm and 100mm macro for details and with these lenses this camera absolutely shines. The sharpness, the detail, the "character" effect especially with the 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2 and 24mm 1.4 is unbelievable. I would say that this camera is not just for sports photography, but many may agree to me that the images from this camera/sensor are spectacular in every sense of the word, White Balance, skin tones, beautiful Canon cinematic colors, everything is above it. I also purchased last year 2023 in October a Canon R6 brand new at a price that was just tempting and I am using the DSLR L lenses with an adapter on them, the images from the R6 are also top notch and the focus precision is so much better. But I would say that in good ideal light the 1DX Mark II files are so much better. I am continuously learning and improving my wedding photography journey with the 1DX Mark II camera than with the R6, though I love both cameras. Cheers!

I have the 1D-X Mark II with now around the 310.000 clicks, and still working problemless, last bought a new R7 as a second camera for the wildlife photography, a great pair of bodys... 🍻

I got my 1dx mk ii about a month ago as my first ff camera after using my 90d with l glass for the past three years and was very happy with the results but the 1dx is brilliant the pictures really seem to pop

Thanks for this. I have an R5, and a 5DM4 (currently my wife's camera). I use mechanical shutter a lot for my R5 images due to the banding issues with LED lights and the giant video screen at the church I shoot at. Obviously if the R5M2 has a stacked sensor that would help, or if the R1 has an answer as well. But for now, without a fast MS camera, I use only the R5 in EFC mode. I also have the EF300mk2 I use for horse racing images. The biggest question I have for the 1dxmk2 is the ability to crop images, rather than having to invest in glass that's out of my price range?

I was just about to pick up a 1DX today as a back-up camera, just watched your video on conparing the 1DX vs 1DX Mark II yesterday, and then I got the notification that you had uploaded this video lol. Is it a sign? 🙂 Decisions! My Canon gear has been sitting since the 1D3 and the 5D3 (currently shoot Nikon for sports), but being able to use my Canon gear again would be fun! Love your videos, keep them coming!

I am going to add the 1DXii to my kit along side of my 7Dii. for a full frame alternative. I was told that I will probably sell my 7Dii after I use the 1DXii and I am fine with that. I would get the 1DXiii instead, but I just can't swing it. I wanted the 5Div for as long as I have been shooting, at least until I found that I could own a 1DXii for just a bit more money.

thx for your experiences sharing. Very interesting thing is that, on the second-hand camera online platform in Japan, 1DX mark 3 is so popular that as soon as one appears, it gets snatched up. Same is 1DX mark2. 1DX is not that popular but there are also very few in good condition. On the contrary, you can find many R3, R5 cameras in good condition. Well, I personally love the mechanical sound and the real viewfinder image on DSLR. Do you think I should wait for an 1DX2 in good condition or just take an 1DX instead, mate? Thx

IMO 5d mkii at $350 used and RP at $650 used are better options for most photography genres. For sports and wildlife, the 14fps is really nice. The rapid animal eye AF in new crop-sensor rf bodies could be really nice though.

I mostly shoot skateboarding. I'm planning to upgrade from a 7D mark II to a full frame camera. I was trying to make up my mind between one of this, 1Dx Mk II or the R8?

Hey Joe, I dont have too much money in the bank and I wonder if there is a difference worth paying for (stills only, not video) between 1DXi and 1DXii ... especially higher ISO. Because its possible to get 2x 1DXi bodies for the price of 1x 1DXii nowadys, and I do not want to pay through the nose if the difference is minor.

I have eos r5 and thinking about 1dx ii as a backup body. Do you think it’s going to be better in autofocus than r5 if I keep the subject detection apart? I was thinking since 1dx ii has bigger battery can drive the ef 500 ii motor faster than eos r5 but not sure about that. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for the videos. Sub £1000? I don’t think so unless it has an enormous shutter count.

The R6 (Mk I) for 1550 Euros new (tax included) isn't a bad option either.
