My review of the Canon Powershot Zoom. How useful is it for spotting Wildlife? And can you really get good photos and video? I share my thoughts on this innovative lightweight monocular.

Thank you Paul for your honest review. It's a good idea but, like with their PowerShot SX70, Canon have dropped the ball with image quality. Suprising because their older 12MP cameras like the PowerShot SX50 and SX240 had good image quality for small sensor cameras. I hope Canon bring out a new versions of this Zoom and the SX70 with better image quality. I'm in need of a new bridge camera :)

At first I was intrigued, then somewhat disappointed but you know, I kinda see a use for it, if you're just walking to and from locations looking for actual photography opportunities, and you just stumble onto something new or neat, it could be a decent way to record at least an ID-worthy image of it. That being said, I'm uninformed about this equipment niche, so there might be a more affordable option out there - either way, I don't think I'd buy it as is. Thanks for the honest review!

Looks like a mildly novel gimmick but I'll stick to my DSLR for photos or video and my binoculars for viewing, no matter how much heavier they are. In interesting review though, thank you.

Thanks for giving an honest review on this camera. If it were half the cost, even the refurbished from Canon isn't cheap enough for the quality, it might be kind of fun to have. The problem is that you can get a really cheap little spotting scope that will fit in your pocket, my wife was given one, that you can use with your cellphone to get better images.

At over £200 I think I could find something better to spend my money on and stick to my bins for spotting birds. Clearly it’s no match for a DSLR never mind a mirrorless camera. Thanks for the interesting review, I’m sure it might suit some people though.

I bought a Sony hx400v for spotting and super zoom id a lot cheaper and reasonable image quality in bright light , no raw but still does the job

I like the form factor and overall idea, but after watching bunch of reviews (your included) decided it's not worth it.... Also interestingly enough - this thing is more than 3 years old, and I see Canon starting pushing a little bit, probably to sell everything that's remaining

Good honest review. Could you recommend a good pocket size camera for when I’m out walking the dogs. Because it’s to much walking dogs and carrying my Nikon ?
