Great review of the rf 50 1.2, my favorite lens in the rf line up. I recently got the rf 28-70 2.0 and it is my second favorite in the line up. I agree the investing in glass is more important than the camera body. Liked and subscribed, keep up the great work!

I have a gig in May working with PayPal and I was contemplating if I should rent the RF 28-70 just to see what the buzz was all about. I’ll be honest, I’m not the greatest with shooting wide angle focal lengths, but I will eventually need to buy a native RF wide lens. Why do you like the RF 28-70mm so much?

Great video. I used to owned this lens before I switched to Fujifilm. I totally agree with this, the RF50mm f1.2 is the best 50mm lens that I've ever used. The Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art is a close 2nd.

Mmmm, what made you switch to Fujifilm?!?? I’ve never used the Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4, but my Sigma 18-35mm is the best EF glass I own. I shot my first documentary partial on that lens. So when you say it’s a close second, I believe you 😂. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment.

@@swnup I didn't switch to Sony. I actually switched from Sony to Canon, and to Fujifilm. I use Medium Format Cameras ( GFX50SII and GFX50R) for my commercial and studio photography. And I use my X-T5, X-H2S, and X100V for everything else. I didn't like that Canon has closed off the RF Mount from other vendors like Sigma, Tamron, and others from making lenses that will compete against their brand. And then they've jacked the price for their cameras and lenses up.

My fault, I meant Fujifilm. I knew you were going to say that about Canon cutting off the RF mount to other vendors. I believe can since changed their stance and will be opening the Mount to other companies. For me, I like other vendors but when I first start out, I generally want 2 or 3 native lenses .

I had a 50mm 1.8 once, but barely used it. Not that it was a bad lens, its that its easier to find use for a 35mm and a 85mm. I really don't know in what situation I would use the 50mm.

@@swnup 35mm for subject and surrounding (+macro) and the 85mm for portraits/headshots/ isolation. The 50 in my eyes is a allrounder, but won’t stand out in a specific area 😀

I agree, with 50mm primes i found myself walking backwards all the time to get my subjects in frame. I use 35mm f1.4 prime and f2.8 zoom instead these days

Interesting you say stick with a certain camera body but I’m a little disappointed in Nikon. I got a z5 as a half commitment with a telephoto vintage lens but I maybe won’t buy their 1.2 z lens because the bokeh looks horrible imo

I completely understand where you’re coming from. When I started on 2018, my first camera was the Panasonic GH5. Great camera, but as I began to deepen my knowledge film and photography knowledge, I noticed some of their limitations. Years later, Panasonic now has a diverse lineup of camera bodies, but even when I used my Lumix GH5, I still only used EF Canon glass. Nikon is great company, but I agree there’s something lacking there. You thinking about switching?

@@swnup thanks a lot for the tips. I’m actually considering importing the old and infamous 2013 Nikon 58mm f1.4g from Japan but apparently it’s sharpness isn’t that great… but I love the colour rendering of it. I think it would complement my vintage Leica m lenses with the colour “pop” especially. I am definitely a bit lost and I also had a lumix product (just a weird phone called the cm-1) and am absolutely heartbroken it’s been discontinued and they didn’t make the battery removable... The thing I love about the Nikon is the colours seem to work well in the summer. The Canon I think is superior for portraits and that 3d rendering with smooth falloff - I would love to get more into portraits and would need a system that nails the autofocus because as you said the 1.2 is very shallow. I will definitely keep the z5 for its versatility but that 1.2 portrait system makes me want a canon 😂

The fact you said Leica M is all I needed. I’m almost positive that one day I’m going to own a used or new Leica M. As far as Nikon goes, as long as that 2013 body is right for you, let’s go. My main photo camera isn’t quite as old as that, but again as I mentioned in the video, any camera plus great glass, you can’t go wrong.

@@swnup well they aren’t proper modern day Leica m lenses… I managed to hustle a camera store which was trying out some price matching software and my zeiss m lens I got from a guy in turkey and surprisingly it was a legit zeiss lens
