That's cool! I went to a creative arts college and was told i couldnt choose music when we did our "options" I had choice of visual arts or performing, but performing was dance drama. The tutor groups 1-4 could do music, 5-7 couldn't and i was in 6. A mainly guitar but also drummer and steel pan player, told they cant study music for a diploma because of the tutor group they're in is the stupidest thing!!!

I could probably never play even close to that but I love how John is both a rythm guitarist that merges melody in his chords and is simultaneously a whole rythm section on his own... Crazy good player and looks like a nice chap too. Thanks for featuring him on the channel.

My first LP was "Best of Cream". I was 13 and had been playing about a year that summer of 69. This has been the most enjoyable 'Capt Meets' episode I have ever seen. I would never have heard of John Browne or Monument, and the sparkle in his eyes when he said "White Room" took me back 55 years. Well done Captain. I will explore more of John's music.

I actually didn't know John had been "Mick Mars'd". I just thought he was pretty intensely into keeping his head down and looking at his hands. I missed that news. Glad to hear he's taking it in stride and that it's not causing him too much pain or inability to continue playing guitar. Love his work. Is it maybe accurate to say he's kind of like the modern-day James Hetfield in the sense that he's one of metal's best current rhythm guitarists who doesn't really play a lot of leads? Even though their styles are so far apart, it's like they're both known for being metal's "strong right hands" of their respective generations.

Latest Monuments album is great. Awesome having John on, I'm really happy to see some modern metal get some love from this channel. I wonder if John was ever on the Petrucci forum. Acle's stuff got passed around on there when TesseracT was just him and his demos, not sure if he was a member, though. Misha was on the forum as well. We're all about the same age, and that was really the only interaction I had with likeminded people into progressive and heavy music in high school and college. Just crazy how many of these modern metal bands were spawned from a bunch of guitar nerds on tEh FoRuMs.

I understand John's reticence to not talk about his health issue and his appreciation to still be able to play guitar and do what he loves. Myself I suffer from severe back issues(I don't tell anybody mainly because you t pity or it to affect how people are listening to your music)and had to stop playing drums and now I play guitar so I totally understand what he is going through and you have to stay positive and appreciate what you are still capable of doing! NOT being able to play music for a true musician is a tragedy! All the best John!
