Thank you for doing this one. The Carpenter's were one of my first musical influences in the 70's and I still love their music to this day. Karen's death was such a tragedy, and I'm sad she's not here to sing for us anymore but her legacy lives on. ❤

Karen Carpenter is a Legend in singing and drumming. When you can dominate the music charts like they did in the 70's as the # 1 selling american group that says it all. Karen will never be forgotten. From all that I have read and studied she was down to earth and gorgeous. Great reaction guys.

Her voice gives me chills. So so lovely. My son lived in her old house in her old room for a time. People would stop him on the street and tell him as if he didn’t know that. He said people stopped in front of the house all the time. When my daughter was a baby we sang Close to You to her every night to put her to sleep. She is 17 and still remembers.

My older sister had their album too....and she left it behind when she got married and left home so it is in my record collection lol But during the whole song I was thinking what a smooth voice she had but also looking at how healthy she looked here. I graduated in '87 and at our bacculaourout service the chorus sang We've only just begun.

Karen looked “younger” here because she was healthy. Soon anorexia would take its toll on her. She died at the age of 32 in 1983 from congestive heart failure due to the anorexia. So sad. I’m a lifelong fan and it still breaks my heart 40 years later.

Songs that show Karen Carpenter's range the best are "Won't Last A Day Without You", and my personal favourite, "Rainy Days And Mondays". Another recommendation is "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft" - it's a quirky number. Damn, I'd have loved to see her live. We lost her so young.

She did have such a soothing voice, never really noticed that until watching this live performance.
