@@jacobm92 have you considered that maybe the depiction of depression on the show is surface level because it’s being depicted through the lens of people that have a surface-level understanding of their own depression. All being said, the depiction of depression on this show is very real and relatable to a lot of people. Especially on episodes like “Stupid Piece of Shit”. The amount of references and tiny details in this show is just crazy. It’s really hard to find something like Bojack in media

I also love how they didn't try and keep the show going for the sake of it because it would've have gotten to that point where even we as the fans could see that they've gone off track. @@panampace honestly i couldn't tell it was ended by cancellation, from all appearances it felt like the show ended because the story that was needing to be told was finished. I'm so happy they didn't drag it out, because that would ultimately would've just meant watching the characters be miserable for some more episodes just for the sake of it. What an amazing thing to see a show that could let the story be what it is and not squeeze the beauty out of it for money

@@scottyc5116 Eh, I mean yes, the last season has a whole feel of finality, but there was definitely far more they could have done with Todd particularly. The last season was 16 episodes overall, so I think we could have got one more season (6 and 7 being 12 eps each) and personally it would have been perfect for me . Still liked the last season, but absolutely feel more could have been done.

My grandpa passed away last year and he had dementia his last few months, so he was like trapped in his own head, his own world, like Beatrice. I started watching this show about 3 weeks ago. 4 episodes in, my now ex-fiance broke up with me out of nowhere. 7 years and an engagement gone 18 months beforeour wedding. I continued watching the show to try and forget everything. This show helped me process what I was feeling and made everything I felt feel so valid. This show will hold an incredibly special place in my heart. I got to heal alongside BoJack, and I think that's what made my viewing experience so special.

That shit hit me too deep. This show is so in touch with the human condition. I like that this show in a lot of ways is pretty cult. It’s not for everyone and that’s ok, for some it’s amongst the greatest shows in TV history. At this point the only animated show I think rivals it’s greatness is South Park (my opinion, but SP also had some deeply affecting moments. When I was taking care of my Grandmother with Alzheimer’s, that episode about QVC had me in tears because of how well they captured the humor and deeply depressing nature of dementia)

this show means more to me than words could ever explain. the portrayal of bojack’s addiction, the portrayals of different mental illnesses, all the main characters being morally gray instead of Good and Bad, the open endedness of the last episode and the way you never truly know how bojack turned out. it is so real and raw. watching the characters grow and learn has changed the way i look at myself and new experiences. the view from halfway down poem has saved my life every single time i’ve struggled since hearing it.

And although history is important to learn, I would say this is just as important, if not more, to get people able to speak and understand about an epidemic we’re going through in society right now that is a mental health crisis. This could even go on for entire units, ranging from topics of the fast way of life in the west, to global usage of technology, cultural biases on whether metal health issues are even seen as a valid problem or not, the dangers of not dealing with mental health, suicide epidemic in males or the suicide attempt rate for females… a lot of stuff. I always thought of myself as a really good person but now I realize it's never that black and white. My negative actions may be a consequence of my past and things I have been through and mental illness, but that doesn't mean it's not my fault or that it's not my job to try to be better. This show helped accept the fact that I have clinical depression. To stop gaslighting myself into thinking I don't. How can I have depression when I feel like I'm a happy person? What does depression look like? It helped me by accepting different aspects of myself by relating to many of the characters. I feel that the View from Halfway Down episode made me also realize that it's natural to be scared of death and the unknown. It shed light on the understanding that no one truly wants to die, but to just feel relief--better. To feel and be better. It felt good knowing the stuff I felt was human and experienced by many others. I often watch Bojack Horseman to help me cope with my current situation EX: When I hate myself a little too much I would watch "Stupid piece of ___t" When I'm losing touch with reality I would watch "The Showstopper" etc. This Halloween I dressed up as Sarah Lynn ("The View From Halfway Down" style) and the next few Halloweens I might go as her again I love the show so much that I would re-watch episodes everyday

The most criminally underrated television show ever. It was genius. Most shows need time to find their stride. BoJack knew what it was right off the bat. While I'm sad to see it go, I'm glad the creators were smart enough to end it on a high note before it got old or stale.
