The character was portrayed as a jerk & I think Joe’s character should have been more living to Rhoda & enjoyed being married but the alternative without him was a disaster!! The show sucked the last 3 years. Gary, Benny, Jack. 3 of the most annoying characters ever!! They should have kept Joe but changed his personality & they should have had kids.

Their wedding was so popular, it was even announced as an upcoming event on the national news. And their split was very shocking in that era.

Dave Glo Their wedding was as huge as the wedding of Luke & Laura of General Hospital. I don't know what the heck the writers & producers were smoking that made them think splitting up Joe & Rhoda was a good idea.

@@yolandagrady7232think Valerie laid out perfectly, there were things they couldn’t do in the time slot that made it tough to write good material for Valerie and in her words they felt like Rhoda lost her comedic edge. They wanted to do a 70s Mad About You but couldn’t

So nice to see them interviewed on The Sally show! Dave may have been started to get sick at this point in time. If I'm not mistaken, he passed away from cancer.

When I was in my early 20’s, I had just come out, my folks threw me out of the house, and I suddenly had to find work. I ended up at one of the most expensive restaurants in the area. I worked my way up to lead on the floor. During this time, celebrities were always coming in for lunch or dinner. It was a fun time, and I always enjoyed meeting famous actors and artists. Being a young gay man, I always had a thing for David Groh. I thought he was very handsome. I read he was appearing at the theater in a play in town. I was hoping he’d find his way to the restaurant. One slow afternoon, I was cleaning up at the host desk, there were floor to ceiling windows everywhere which made the building very dramatic and eye catching. I popped my head up and saw David Groh about 3 blocks away, walking toward the restaurant. I held my breath hoping he’d walk in. All of a sudden the door opened, and there he was. I nearly passed out. I said hello and asked “table for 1?”. He asked to see the menu. He looked disappointed. It was too fancy for him. He asked for recommendations in the area. I was a little let down, but I understood. I told him about 2 or 3 places, he smiled, and I was really hoping he’d ask “what time are you off, would you like to join me?”. He said “thanks” and left. I was annoyed because a few times celebrities I struck up a conversation with have been friendly enough to ask me to sit and have drinks with them. My secret was to never let on I knew who they were, and to treat them like everyone else. I guess David wasn’t interested, he broke Rhodas heart, and mine too. I still think he was so handsome.

That's a cute story John, thanks for sharing. 🙂 I'm sorry about your parents, that sucks. I was fortunate in that my Granny owned half the house and she told me from the time that I was 3 that it was for me. My Dad let it run down because he hates me ( that's a story for another day) but I always had a place to stay. I honestly can't say whether I'd still be alive at 55 if I didn't have the house. I just want to 🫂 you and although it's belated I really am sorry. I wondered about my own Son and I just hurt to imagine doing that over something so basic to an individual, an individual you're suppose to love. Just hurts. I'm glad you made it and had fun doing it. You sound like you have a great attitude. David missed out. Much love ❤

Gosh, in this episode of Sally, David Groh looks exactly like Christopher Plummer (the father in The Sound of Music)! Seems almost like Julie Andrews should be sitting next to him instead of Valerie Harper because he looks so much like Christopher Plummer here!
