Stunning layout expertly designed and built.I’ve watched a good few of your clips and admire your skill and attention to detail and that you are always looking to improve already nice areas of the layout,results of this are superb,it’s a joy to follow the progress. I would be happy if my layout/skills were a fraction of yours. I hope some of your suppliers watch these videos and see what your work and money’s spent with them have turned their products into. Already looking forward to next update

Thank you so much for those very kind words of encouragement Tim, they are as always, greatly appreciated sir. Hopefully I can continue with the rest of the layout in the same way, I’m in no hurry, I just enjoy every minute I’m up there, I may not be up there with the big boys of model railways but as long as I can walk away at the end of the day and feel that I’ve enjoyed myself then that’s the main thing for me. Cheers and thank you. ………..Graham

Hi Clive and thank you for the comment, as you may have noticed in previous videos, I was gradually assembling all the components I wanted in that corner so it was really just a case of assembling it all to the picture I had of it in my head 4-5 months ago, and it came out near enough spot on to what I had planned. So I’m very pleased with the (almost) finished result and will create a nice looking focal point for that corner of the layout. Cheers. ……….Graham

I did sand it lightly, but other than that?? The castle came out so very wonderful. It was nice to see you and hear you in your video. I thought your road color was very convincing. Hi Rob, I think you may have answered your own comment by saying “one you had got used to it”. I had such a small area that I didn’t really get a chance to get used to it. Anyway, it’s done now but I certainly won’t be using that again. I enjoy dry brushing with paint, I can achieve some good results by using different methods, the road was achieved by using kitchen towel and dabbing dryish paint onto the existing grey surface. It would be lovely to go for a pleasant walk in the nearby countryside and visit the castle. Then have a picnic on the grass on the grounds. Or sample the home-cooked food in the pub nearby, and help the local economy. Hopefully, the landlord/ landlady can break even as I am sure the home-cooked food is also sourced from local ingredients and produce.

As usual your work is great and the effect is perfect. One suggestion for people is a tourist coach or two with a gagle of people all dressed to suit I have seen some of the Japanese manufacturs with a suitable type of people that dont look to bad to use as an international type group just cant remember which company makes them. The only thing I did notice when you zoomed in on the sign in the castle is that the step into the entrance is not sitting flush with the ground as it seemes to be sitting up on the grass edging pointing it out not as a wat of putting your work down but as a cobstructive critisim that should be easy to fix and make it up to your usual standard, still love it as a whole.

@@GrahamFoulston I hate how my older brother as one that did all electrical work on aircraft would always point to my cant see the wiring so it domt matter how it looks work and would spend hours ripping the crap out of everything i did till I just sucked it up and did it right the first time to just shut him up (the curse of being the younger brother) but now in my mid 6os I find that when something dont look rifht i always see it and it drives me crazy. The other week my cars tail lights just the parkers stopped working checked the fuse it was blown so swapped it out blew straught away sounds like direct short somewhere so spent the next week pulling the whole rear wiring loom apart at every joimer i could find in the car there are 7 in the car from the fuse block to the rear lights and 3 before the fuse so at each block i would check with a multi meter for the short working from the back foward and each step said falt was further to the front even checked the switch on the circuit and all never got to find it stuck it all back together and mind you each section between joiners changes colour codes for the wires in it but after all that put it back together put inanother new fuse and lights have worked since. It is still driving me crazy though as I know there is some sort of fault there and that it will happen again at some point. LOL

Hi Graham, love the castle. As you know I am a great admirer of Lakeside, so could I say a couple of things. First I probably would not have put so many exposed rock faces on the slope up to the castle and secondly with the grey steps should you put a handrail on one side to comply with health & safety requirements....Best regards Greg

Hi Greg and thank you. You are of course welcome to your own opinion on the layout and this scene, however, I have to create these scenes to how I want it to look and be happy with rather than anyone else, but if you would have preferred it to look different in the details the that is of course your prerogative - it doesn’t mean that what I have done is wrong though, just a difference of opinion that’s all. And as regards the handrail for the steps then there are two (one for each side) already made and ready to be installed - but not yet, they will be fitted later. Cheers. ………..Graham

Hi Graham. The castle looks splendid flying the flag of St George and the flag carrying the Lakeside Crest. The climb to the entrance seems rather steep, my friend, but should help keep the enemy out! 😂 The scene of the canal, church and tunnel complete the diorama, with the exception of the future animated lock and gates, which I look forward to seeing complete and in operation. Onwards and upwards. Best, Jason.

Thank you Jason and I’m pleased that overall you like the scene. As regards the steepness to the entrance then as you say, it would have initially been like that to help keep the enemy at bay - which is why it’s on a hill. I have climbed much steeper paths, and for longer when visiting some areas of the Lake District, that clime to the entrance is nothing by comparison. Anyway, not ‘real’ people will be claiming it so it doesn’t really matter, it’s just a toy. Cheers. ………..Graham

Looks impressive! If you can put up with HO figures, then Preiser do quite a few sets of sightseers/photographers etc., although they are not exactly cheap. Actually might work better than OO figures, as the castle's in the distance, and slightly smaller figures might make it look even more majestic.

Wow Graham. What a wonderful scene you have created. Maybe the King Charles III can swing by the downtown station, fill up the coaches with normal folk, and deposit them at the castle. You need a good crowd to celebrate the upcoming coronation. Absolutely loved the in coach ride at the end. Well done. Thanks. Take care. See ya next time.

Hi Graham. Really enjoyed this update and when you mentioned figures, I literally grabbed my phone to do this comment 'Fine Scale Figures'. You've probably already had hundreds of comments telling you the same, but honestly Graham, it'll solve your figure shortage problem. There are some really casual figures and a lot to choose from, and to be honest, it's great fun choosing them. Check them out and see what you think. I still love looking at that King Charles the 3rd, absolutely amazing. Take care Graham and speak soon mate. Lee

I will be looking at the website today of the ‘Fine Scale Figures’ and I have no doubt from what you say then I will be ordering some from them, they sound ideal. I will be giving the King Charles III some maintenance today so that she runs nice and smooth in readiness for her important journey over the weekend. Cheers mate. …………Graham

Looks Really Nice mate that only thing I'm not sure why but your cars are not to Scale the Castle and area Looks as good as I knew it would do thanks
@GrahamFoulston
@GrahamFoulston Жыл бұрын
Thank you Anthony for the comment, I’m now perplexed as to why you think the cars are not to scale. The Metcalfe Castle is at 1/76 scale and as I only buy Oxford diecast vehicles which are also sold as 1/76 then one of those two manufactures must be producing their products at the wrong scale. As Everard Junction uses Oxford Diecast vehicles on his layout and no one picks him up on his cars being out of scale (well they wouldn’t would they) then I can only assume that it must be Metcalfe producing the castle at the wrong scale. I will contact them on Tuesday and pose the question as to why they have produced their castle at the wrong scale and will let you know what they say on my next video. Cheers. ………..Graham

@@anthoneyking6572 Hi Anthony, out of curiosity I googled the dimensions of that particular Range Rover and it averaged out at 4800mm in length, divide that by 76 (for OO scale) and it works out to 63mm. Guess what? That Range Rover outside the pub measures exactly 63mm - so you are wrong, it’s the perfect size. Let’s leave it there.
