What they don't mention is that none of the characters in the film look enthusiastic about what the Cat is doing. They always look on with a look of horror, disgust or terror which is amasing.

25:00 Okay, so, Spaying is not the process of removing a pet's balls, that is Neutering. Spaying is actually the process of removing ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus from Female pets. So, technically speaking, a Spayed animal may very well still have balls. And also, the Cat In The Hat could be called an Intersex Icon and I feel like the world is a darker place for me being able claim that.

I saw the original cartoon as a little kid, 2 observations: 1)I was annoyed/traumatized by the entire thing! AND 2)On reflection, I wonder if this was why *NO* Dr. Suess books were *EVER* purchased for the kids in my household!😳 NOTE: It's not like it was obvious as a kid, and if a book was taken out of the school library nothing was said, this *ONLY* came up after I became an adult, and I wound up in a situation where I was literally taking care of some guy's kid for actual rent in a room in his apartment... On more than one occasion I bought children's books for her from the used book store literally down the street - including Dr. Suess books. Oh, the grief I got from my verbally abusive mother about this! 2 points: 1) *NEITHER* parent had any issue with the books that I'd bought, and I never asked nor recived any repayment for them... 2)One of the books in my childhood library (Which I'm assuming *WAS* ""approved") was the first "Barbar The Elephant" story which was *PURE* nightmare fuel! And no, I'm *NOT* giving details, because there's *NO* way to do that without annoying YT! Yes, it's *THAT* bad! Even if YT wasn't such a wimp, I'd still feel that a TW would still be warranted!😳 Had to edit this *MULTIPLE* times becauce YT kept adding "Time Stamps" that I didn't want to add!😡😡😡

So two years ago at this point, I did this project where I watched and reviewed Cat In The Hat every week of 2022. Eventually, it stopped being a weekly review of the film and more-so reviews of what watching this movie was doing to me. Early on a couple of friends from Australia volunteered to join in and they started sending increasingly messed up edits for me to review. This culminated in something called "The Dread Cut": a two hour fan edit that included visual and auditory distortions that gave me a headache, random jumpscares, an SCP-type subplot with original footage that they filmed, and an analog horror subplot where Joan was actually an alias for Princess Diana and her death allowed a skinwalker to enter Anville. The whole project is both the best and worst thing I've ever been a part of.

my favorite part about this film is that it inspired an eldritch god character in the biggest mod for FTL: Faster than Light (Multiverse) called "The One Who Rhymes". He literally has a sound for "powering up" that directly samples that one strange eldritch sounding laugh right before the cat in the hat surfs down the stairs. Anything Seuss-related now just makes me think of playful yet harmless eldritch beings beyond my comprehension.

So like, back in 2004, my parents were shopping around for a new house (moving to be closer to family). This was before the housing crash, when they were building new subdivisions every twelve feet. The construction company had a demo house/ office with a play room for kids, to keep them busy while the parents got suckered into a sub-prime mortgage. Anyway, the movie playing in the play room was the Cat in the Hat, and it was so... distressing(?) that my brother started crying, and we wound up not living there. From the sounds of this review, he was right to cry and I was a fool not to.

We had this film on dvd, I watched it many times as a small child (evidently a good amount of time after release as I'd've been about 2 at the time). I remember being most creeped out by the odd empty feeling of the neighbourhood, I don't recall finding the Cat all that creepy at the time, but now I really wanna give this a rewatch.

I have a personal deep lore cut of my own. I was around 5 or 6 when I saw this movie for the first time. Cat in the Hat was the first movie I saw that I actively didn’t like. This was confusing to young me for several reasons. I distinctly remember one of those reasons being that I thought it was impossible to dislike any media. I had never experienced something that gave me so much of a visceral negative reaction. My mom would tell me when it’s on TV and I’d tell her I’ll watch it in my room, just to avoid it at all costs Edit: it makes me feel great to hear other people also have their first media thing they hate

it was one of my favorite seuss books as a kid. the other was On Beyond Zebra, which was one of the ones that they stopped publishing for racial insensitivity. I credit it with awakening my love for conlanging, and also like to hold it against anti-woke types that unlike them I actually DID read and love one of the (very few) books they stopped publishing, and I think they were right to do it

My most vivid memory of this movie as a child is,funnily enough,not the movie itself but the DVD. I just have very clear memories of going to rent DVDs with my parents,and staring at the Cat In The Hat DVD cover with the fish on it,trying to figure out what the hell it was cause for whatever reason my little dumb child brain didn't process it as a fish. Also I'm almost sure my mom didn't like this movie so we never rented it,the first time I watched it was in Cartoon Network I think

I want to make a movie with one of those "guy wants to marry mom but doesn't want/like the kid/s so they plot to have the kid sent to military school" plots but it ends with the bad guy successfully wooing the mom, but then there's a four month time skip to when he broaches the subject and then the mom immediately angrily breaks up with him, and that's the last three minutes and then the movie just ends and there's no dialogue from the kid in the scene. I want to that just to fuck with the 6-11 year old viewing audience. Keep em on their toes.

Cat in the Hat is my Favorite Guilty Pleasure Movie and I laughed so much although I can’t tell what kind of Laughter I would Describe, Norbit is still the Best Comedy Movie to Me. Edit: I will confess that I remember when my Parents Rented this Movie on VHS and from witnessing the Burger King Commercials I felt disturbed as a Kid and when the Cat appeared in the Movie I went to my Room and Slept in Early but after many Reruns of the Film in Television out of Pure Boredom, I grew to love this Movie and it’s Madness that it became my Favorite Guilty Pleasure, Hell watching it with my Siblings and Family with confused expressions was satisfying to see.

I knew this movie inside out, upside down, forwards, backwards, sideways, and all across the spectrum of visible light. The reason? My cousin LOVED it and it was one of three movies our grandmother tolerated in her house for some reason. The other movies? Shark Tale and, I kid you not, Stuart Little. My childhood was filled with inside jokes about Cat in the Hat and I solely blame it for my mistrust of liminal spaces and clean-cut people.

I think the rave scene happened because it was a reference to the 90s rave scene. It wasn’t uncommon for ravers to wear silly hats; the most common hat was the Dr. Seuss hat.
