This playthrough was recorded LIVE on Twitch. As such, Adam is speaking with chat throughout. Videos without chat will be listed as 'KZfaq Exclusive'. This is the ENTIRE playthrough, so there will be some episodes in which not much happens, that's just the nature of unedited RimWorld.
*No Pause - Adam is using a mod that disables pause in every portion of the game. This means it is impossible for him to pause with a key press and the game will not pause during events or trade, making things much more difficult.
** Losing is Fun set to +500% is the hardest difficulty in unmodded RimWorld
***Cassandra Classic is the most consistently difficult storyteller, but is more predictable than Randy Random and cannot be as hard as him if you get bad Randy RNG.
**** Lost Tribe is a scenario in which you begin with 5 tribals, some supplies, and 3 random pets. This scenario has very slow research by default.

40:08 There is only one sacrifice. They just respawn occasionally and have to be sent back.

Maybe you could use the sacrifice pawns to do some trading reconnaissance. That way you could figure out which settlements have psycasts like Word of Trust or whatever you need. Then you could transport pod the social pawn to the places with good stuff. A sacrifice on caravan wouldn't raise your wealth or make friends, and if they got ambushed it would be really minor.

re: caravan items In the upcoming update caravanning will get some love such that pawns will use medicine, food, and resources on caravan animals. I don't know what this means for wealth calculations or hiding valuables on pack animals, though.

@@AdamVsEverything Yeah, it seems good. ANOTHER update is less promising: it looks like going forward weapons and utility items will count towards the five items you can take for the archonexus quest. That quest is already not great, and reducing the number of items you can take makes it even worse (and narratively borked -I can take five elephants but not a collection of other things?). The devs seemed to miss the point that there are only two really good parts about the quest: developing your pawns (including their gear), and planning out the next base. The storyteller is responsible for he challenge -limiting the choice of items to five certainly doesn't make it more fun.

re: breach raids Another downside of breach raids like the quest you rejected (pirate breach) is you don't get the fun of manipulating their pathing. Of course that makes things easier, but it's so much fun to get a quest at just at the right time to throw against a cluster.

Yeah, quest attacks have saved my butt against bad clusters and the like many times. Stupid breachers screwing even more things up... :P

@@AdamVsEverything I just had a double-raid "followed by danger" quest and neither was a breach so I could direct part of one of the raids into a massive cluster (my first cluster in about four years). One of the raids was scattered drop pod pirates, which was weird (1/2 landed inside my walls, half outside, none through roofs), and the other was a siege. While dealing with that I was hit by ANOTHER siege, but managed to skip the mechs into them. I was thinking at the time, "wow, four events in a row, and none of them breaches!"

re: dryad combat I like the idea of combining them, but you still end up with dryads getting friendly fired and getting in the way of psycasts. If they changed it so you could draft them that would be useful enough for me, even at their current somewhat wimpy level.

Thanks! The stream ahs gone down in popularity a bit since these were recorded, though. We sit around 700 subscribers now (which I am definitely not complaining about, though!)

re: brain frying with shock lances I'm still doing my first archonexus run, and I know it's rng, but it seems like the chance of brain-scarring any former-colonist-turned-raider is directly proportional to how good they are: Putz that I shock-lanced just for rp = no scar; pawn I love with great skills and psycasts = 60% brain scar. Had a thematic moment when my warrior took out a pirate base and discovered his wife from the original colony dead in a gibbet. Wow.

I hardly ever use freezers anymore. I just try to only keep enough food that it gets used before it rots. Rice lasts 40 days unrefrigerated.

@@AdamVsEverything i had a few colonies wiped out due to randy being a jerk and toxic fallout or volcanic wintered my harvests, so i stockpile like mad, tho its great you can just keep corn in any room and it lasts for a year..i guess the rice has such a short shelf life cuz its still brown rice and it spoils really fast compared to white

Yeah, a bit faster since sandstone goes up more quickly than other stone, but lecterns in general still take a ton of time (not as much with steel etc, but still crazy long compared to a lot of structures).

I keep booting the game up to play and then coming right back to your videos and watching you instead. Maybe it would help if it didn't take 10mins to load the games because of the 200 mods I have installed! 🙃

I could be wrong but i believe that he reduces resistance first because it's more consistent to reduce the resistance to zero before you try to recruit
