Today I went to the Central Market in Budapest, it's also known as the Great Market Hall, this market has everything. It's one of the biggest I've ever visited. The market has 3 levels, where the sell clothing items, goods and merchandise. The also sell sausages, meats and fresh fruits. Not to mention loads of other items. On the second floor they have a restaurant where you can try typical Hungarian foods. I tried Hungarian goulash at this restaurant, which is cafeteria style.

Original Hungarian goulash (gulyásleves) is a soup, if you want to eat stew then try "pörkölt".

Thanks, I had Goulash in Prague, and it was more like a stew with sponge bread.

I bought the same shirt for my brother. I loved that place as well. Found it while looking for a laundromat I Googled a few blocks away. Yes, I travel light and do laundry while out. I feel more like a local.

I always do my laundry while traveling, too. In fact, I stayed exclusively in hostels in Budapest. Great shirt and market. I still have mine. Thanks for sharing, and happy travels!

That was quite pricey for a soup, Kerry. It didn't look like how goulash should be. However, it is a very good central market. Great to see. Thank you. 😊

I always love visiting the central markets in Europe, you get a real insight into the culture and cuisine of a country. I think this is one of the best ones, along with the central markets of Alicante and Riga, Latvia.

I agree, you for sure get a glimpse of the daily life and diet of those living in that region. No paella here though, unlike Spain. 😁👌

Great video Kerry👍. Nice market. The biggest market I was in last year was the Grand Bazzar in Istanbul Turkey. Over 4,000 shops in over 60 streets. A shopaholics paradise. 👌

Goulash is originates from Hungary, and its a soup! We call gulyasleves=gulash soup. You can get goulash in other european country but mostly You will get stew...for some reason.... We also have a stew version, (what usually You get in other country around Hungary) its very similar, but thicker, and We call it (beef, chicken, pork, mushroom, fish or many other) STEW... because its a stew....

You can do what you like but traditional Hungarian (Magyar) "gulyásleves" is a SOUP (leves). We don't put the bread in the soup. Another dish that looks like what foreigners like to call goulash -- thick stewed meat -- is called "pörkölt" in Hungarian. So, now you know.

great video ,what was you're exchange rate?? I'm heading there in 3 weeks !!
@TravelAddictGuy
@TravelAddictGuy Жыл бұрын
The Forint moves daily but average rate is around 360. I recommend withdrawing money directly from a bank atm machine. Never use the Euro or non bank atm's. I've been using OTP bank, they charge no fee here ( at least the ones a bit away from the river). Choose to withdraw in Forint, that way your bank does the exchange. They will give you close to the bank rate and charge only 3% exchange fee, plus withdrawal fee. Good luck.
