Notes by Mark - A song about selling your soul for fame and fortune, compromising oneself for the sake of your dreams. It came in the wake of CBS. They'd dangled a dream in front of us and when we wouldn't be what they wanted they dropped us. We weren't bothered though, we had each other.

On a lark I bought Script of the Bridge (the UK release, not that bastard MCA cut down version) when my ship was doing a Med cruise in summer '85. I had never heard of The Chameleons (they were pretty much unknown in the states, at least to me) but 20 seconds into Here Today I was hooked. That voice, those delayed guitars and the forceful bass and drums had me air guitaring the rest of the deployment. I wore the first tape out in about 2 months (Walkmans were not kind to cassette tapes mixed with salt air) but thankfully a buddy of mine had the only other copy on the ship. I've been a huge fan ever since and my one regret was never seeing them live. Thanks for some great memories Martin, I feel like I'm 19 again.
