Love what you said here!! How good were they? Infact the artwork on the album was so outstanding that I used to get home from school and then couldn't wait to draw their fabulous art covers. Not only did you have the artwork but then could listen to the oh so great lyrics and magical guitars of the Chameleons!

Notes by Mark - A song about selling your soul for fame and fortune, compromising oneself for the sake of your dreams. It came in the wake of CBS. They'd dangled a dream in front of us and when we wouldn't be what they wanted they dropped us. We weren't bothered though, we had each other.

On a lark I bought Script of the Bridge (the UK release, not that bastard MCA cut down version) when my ship was doing a Med cruise in summer '85. I had never heard of The Chameleons (they were pretty much unknown in the states, at least to me) but 20 seconds into Here Today I was hooked. That voice, those delayed guitars and the forceful bass and drums had me air guitaring the rest of the deployment. I wore the first tape out in about 2 months (Walkmans were not kind to cassette tapes mixed with salt air) but thankfully a buddy of mine had the only other copy on the ship. I've been a huge fan ever since and my one regret was never seeing them live. Thanks for some great memories Martin, I feel like I'm 19 again.
