now many of these 80s landmarks are going away. Brisbane Transit Centre, Eagle Street Pier, Myer Centre

I do enjoy that little montage at the start

Yeah that was quite advanced for the time the digital box that made that possible was a major investment. I used to work for the company that made these I started about the same time that this film was made, the big hole that became the Myer center was probably the first shoot I ever worked on.

The weekend wasn't complete without Sunday night's "Queensland Unlimited". I know a lot of you hate on the old Queensland, but as someone who grew up in dismal ALP NSW in the 70s and 80s, Queensland was mind-blowing.

Amazing how much development a Brown paper bag can achieve.

Charging people money every day to use the roads is a absolute discrace. Thievory shocking

yes its very disappointing. it's unconstitutional. actually illegal. unlawful. as is charging money for water, and spiking it with fluoride aka prozac. we've had 2 referendums to get rid of councils and yet they are still here. brisbane airport as far as i know has been sold to a foreign company. public assets are not permitted to be sold without the will of the people through a referendum either. the entire legal framework is a mess. some very dodgy dealings have been going on still to this day. not to mention the weather modifications responsible for the floods in Grantham. No wonder Anna Bligh lives in Sydney because once people know they will be very upset with her to say the least. I could go on all day and still not raise everything that's gone wrong. I don't know why the police or CCC aren't prosecuting those responsible. I'm just a father on minimum income trying to raise 2 young children. God bless you.

U can stop the traffic for everyone using the hwy. If every merges across from the inside lane roughly 500 meters befor the lane that let's incoming traffic onto the freeway it will stop all the traffic jams. People in the inside lane put there breaks on to let the incoming lane onto the freeway. Then everyone is putting there breaks on then moving into the other lane. .this is why there is multiple traffic issues. A add needs to be made and put on tv news to reform as many drivers as possible even notice sent out to all households. Where is your responsibility and respect. All the workers is how the government make all there money. So do something back for the people. Including tolls breaking all the hard workers pockets. You are loosing the public respect day by day.

thank you. yes the tolls are actually highly illegal.

I miss the old Queensland. Lowest taxes in Australia. Lowest fuel prices. My wife and I bought our first home around this time for 50k. No water bill. That was included in rates. Electricity was maybe $100 for the quarter. Cigs and beer was cheap. Like my dad used to say, whether you like Joh or not, we always had money in our pockets back then. And there was plenty left over for health, rail and roads.
