In Inj1 u have mmh, Zod, Batgirl, Bane, Aquaman, Flash who are all better than deathstroke including mk9 u have Kabal, Kenshi, Cyrax, Sonya, Freddy, Cage, Smoke so together that 13 characters who are all more overpowered then deathstroke

@@sektorackworth214 Aquaman is very solid, for sure, but most would not consider him the "Spamming zoner" of the game. The rest you mentioned are DLC (which I agree are stronger, but Deathstroke was in the base game at launch). As for the MK9 zoners, I still appreciate that they took skill to use at high level. Whereas Deathstroke (and the characters that copy him in later games) can literally beat many casual players with one move

@@sektorackworth214 She is good for both reasons. Mix-ups only work if you can get close. So Batgirl having a teleport that is basically instant allows her to remove any zoning from the match. She can react to basically any projectile you try to use and punish you with a re-stand into the mix-ups

@@TrueUnderDawgGaming I should of saud it better but what I was trying to say is yes her counter zoning puts her as top 2 and debateble top 1 but I think she is still top 5 without her teleport while without her mix ups she is mid tuer and the original comment said her anti zoning is what made her so good which to me says that she was so good mainly because of her anti zoning which as I already said without mix she is mid tier and without teleport she is still top 5 but this is the way I interpreted the comment also she still could of got in without a teleport just not as easy and would take morr damage getting in

His trait was fucking BUSTED during the early days of Injustice 1. There was no missed projectiles feature during the cooldown of his trait and his bullets did full damage in addition to being unblockable. Pretty sure it lasted longer too.

@Iain William Fowler Zoning as a mechanic is fine. The problem here is that keep-away character in NetherRealm games tend to be overpowered, other fighting game also have zoner/keep-away but they tend be much more balanced and healthy

@Iain William Fowler zoning is fine if done right like Axl low from guilty gear strive or Guile from street fighter and Peacock from skullgirls because they have a obvious weakness that they're have limited option on close and rushdown will mostly destroy them if they guess the mix up wrong In Netherealm games,zoning are very inconsistent like why giving them a invincible wake up which safe on block,having a lot of chip damage which have a option to save on block like deadshot and mkx Jacqui and really good at up close like isn't that a main weakness of the zoners have? There's the only zoner which have very good rushdown that done right is Glacius from killer instinct because he not op on anything,he just good at everything that made KL community like him more than hate him despite being a zoner that is good on almost everything

Ok, the fact that death stroke's "machine gun" ability uses a model much more comparable to a sniper or long range assault rifle annoys me so much more then it has any right to.

@@ridhosamudro2199 ok, now I'm curious. I really do enjoy my weapon factoids and info so I really wanna look at details and understand this. With that said, with how the scope in particular is modeled it's really hard to perceive this as not a sniper and wanna get to the bottom of it. Definitely the mag/lower half of the model give off the impression that either it's a sniper at short range(kinda like deadshot's AH EX the vid showed and mentioned what do you know) or something like an AR used desperately. With the visuals, this move really should be a slow but powerful(or at least armored but powerful)DP. With Traits in the mix armor isn't even a be all end all anymore. 🤣

I originally mained Deathstroke when I was like 8 after getting a PS3. I only picked him because I couldn't do the "back-forwards button" inputs (i.e Batman's slide kick move) with my child fingers, and Deathstroke doesn't have any. Plus, he has the coolest design and super move in injustice 1

@ImJTHM that’s what I said mongoloid, because the characters were so overpowered in their traits it had a good sense of these characters styles, like doomsday having armour through everything, supermen having all the tools and flying laser eyes, Batman and his combo tricks, Shazam and black Adam doing lightning combos, the reach with Martian man hunter able to teleport and turn invisible and long normals or lobo with short heavy combos and ranged chain throws like scorpion.

Fun fact: Deathstroke's super was actually the third most damaging super in the game for most.of its life. Second was Flash at 39% (now 34%) and first place was Wonder Woman at 40% (now 35%). I think supers across the board has a couple percentage points reduced, but not Deathstroke.

I honestly do not mind keepaway as a playstyle. The issue is that NRS makes it too easy. Keepaway characters are supposed to be high-execution and require good reads. But NRS makes them low-risk and high reward.

I remember having a first to 5 set against a Deathstroke online while playing Shazam and he was going full flowchart with the low overhead mixupup into the sword combo into zoning and using sword flips hard knockdown to setup the mixup. It took 3 losses for me to catch on and get two in a row against him. He then took a 4th, but I got a 3rd against him in dominating fashion, punished the unsafe random sword flips he did with a simple d+3 into crossup for a full combo every time (which he always used to start his flowchart) thus stopping him from setting up his mixup and once that happened he was like a deer in headlights. He immediately quit afterwards and I asked if he was scared that I downloaded him and he used the 4 to 3 argument and refused to take it to 5. To this day I still want to finish that set. Despite the online lag and me using a C tier character at best I did enjoy the onlinr if I can kick the ass of these zoners.

I remember playing this back when I was 17. I played a half-dozen characters and used Deathstroke as a Scorpion counter. I didn’t know how to block Scorpion’s teleport, but I learned that Deathstroke’s sword spin hits behind and beats the teleport. If I picked Deathstroke, people with the dlc would choose Scorpion and do wake-up teleports all the time, so I’d just do the sword spin as a read. I also only did 3 or 4 zoning moves at a time before moving in because they just felt lame to me and Deathstroke was still good up close.

Heck yeah! I love these types of videos. A quick bit of information here but I believe that Sword spin also had a low option on top of the overhead option, at the cost of 1 bar of meter of course. So one of the best wake-ups in the game was invincible and has a 50-50 tied to it. Now Deathstroke didn't get a combo off of the low and I believe he swung after the first spin instead of the second so a good player would know how to deal with it so it wasn't a true 50-50. It would catch new players or players that didn't understand how Deathstroke worked. But just think about it, an invincible wake up that you pretty much have to guess.

I remember back when the game first came out online, if it wasn't a Superman, it was a Deathstroke usually. I was purely a Joker player but while I wasn't keen on zoning, I loved how Deathstroke looked so eventually I told myself I was gonna learn him and be the first one to fight outside of just rifle spam. Yeah, I'm by no means good but even I noticed just how good his combos were back then, it was just swag but seeing this shows me just how much stronger he was still, jeez, good vid xD

This was the first fighting game i learned to play properly. NRS games are great for introducing players to fighting game fundamentals like spacing, mix ups, conditioning and punishment because they're pretty slow paced and quite basic when compared to Tekken, Street Fight and Dragon Ball FighterZ

@The Krimson Kommando see here's the flaw with mortal kombat though. I've never once had a match in games like dbfz where the opponent either taps you for a combo then plays like a turtle for half the game or turn a fighting game into a damn shooter. In dbfz you can counter anything your opponent does with any character. Constantly blocking or spamming projectiles? Let's add a dash that kills projectiles and or break through their constant turtling. Hey this character hard counters my current character so let's just change them out. Taking to much damage? Switch to catch a break and try to heal up. Hey that dude just dipped and was almost k.o.d I wish there was a way to bring them back on screen... oh wait you can do that too. Quicker Summary: Simplicity is nice but keeping it too simple has its flaws as much as making something overly complicated.

Theres actually one more thing about his trait. It makes the special projectile moves unblockable true, but it also makes the projectile moves in his normal strings unblockable too. Sure the damage is nerfed, and the trait wont last long but you can easily replace the combo projectile ender with a sword special instead

Ok so I used to play Battle Arena Toshinden and they had a character named Vermilion. Dude had a pistol and a shotgun. To compensate for the fact that he had guns when everyone else had swords, dude was PAINFULLY SLOW. That's the kind of balance you need, not that BAT was all that balanced.

All I wanted was to Grundy smash players online. But Deathstroke spam and netkode made me learn characters specifically to counter Deathstroke. I always waited for someone to pick first, just so I can throw Nightwing or Ares out in case I ever saw a Deathstroke OR a hidden cursor. Could never be too careful. INJ1 online days were painful. Still, Zod was definitely worse.

This game is still by far my favorite Netherrealm fighting game to this day. The combos, the fluidity of the gameplay, the movesets, the online community, the fantastic storyline, the character roster... Literally hit all the right notes for me, so much so that around the prime of this game was when I was playing fighting games on a regular basis, and in this game specifically, I could play almost every character and was among some of the best players. My mains, or at least the characters I had the most play time with were, Deathstroke, Green Lantern, Flash, Black Adam, Shazam, Solomon Grundy, Joker, General Zod, Scorpion, Batman, and Green Arrow. If Netherrealm were to remaster any of their previous fighting games in the upcoming years, Injustice Gods Among Us would be my first pick. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Dead shot is still busted, still has insane Zonning, played IJ2 for the first time in two years yesterday evening and I ran into two deathshots, one superman and two starfires. I quit the game after that never to return.

That would be hard but for mk9 imo it was Sektor's 12b1, for Inj1 Zod's f21u2 was pretty good u just had to br able to hit confirm the last 2 hits of the string but idk the exact best one, mkx Liu had a really good combo starter f44 because on block u could make it plus 4 and on hit it lead to 34%, for inj2 idk, for mk11 there really isnt a great one tbh but Sonya's has a mix up and Joker's 121 os pretty good but none that are super good becausd they all can be punished iirc also he hasnt done it

So the Machine Gun attack you started with did not start with Deathstroke. Jax used a Machine Gun attack in MK: Deadly Alliance in 2002. Even before then, he had missiles.

The damage done by those machine gun moves need to get nurfed in fighting games. That’s way too much damage for just one move and it’s a projectile move making it harder to deal with.

Depends. If the character is dependent on zoning, then not really. The issue here is that Deathstroke is great at everything, so even if you close the distance, he can still fuck you up

@@uglyl560 it’s basically the same deal as poison ivy in INJ2, she was able to zone, have mixups, and even great damaging combos.

Balancing results like NRS Deathstroke are why I always get annoyed when I see people talking about how if everyone is OP nobody is OP, because while yeah that's true, you get obnoxious easy mode characters like this. Theb again I've avoided pretty much every game that has this mentality so there's likely games where that mentality results in the game being more fun than obnoxious. Guilty Gear Strive just released a patch that's got everyone saying "if everything is OP nothing is OP", maybe I'll try that game out and see if that changes my mind.

When I watch people play Injustice 1 the characters that I like the most are Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Deathstroke and Zatanna and here are the reasons why. Batgirl: Great Rushdown and great Counter Zoning tools HQ: I love her combos Catwoman: I love her Rushdown playstyle like Batgirl and has great tools for getting in Deathstroke: I just knew Netherrealm made him one of the best Zoners/Keepaway characters of all time Zatanna: I love all her attacks and mix-ups almost like Enchantress in INJ 2

If i remenber correctly his combos where nerfed too. He had some Sword combos in the corner with absurd amounts of damage.

I’m conflicted because this as much as people might not like it, this IS who Deathstroke is; the assassin who can handle diverse situations using a diverse arsenal. It would kill me inside to see a version of Deathstroke that sucks with a sword, or a version of him with really crappy gun proficiency, because that goes against who the character is
