This is the main reason I bought a Quest 2. I travel on planes a bunch for work, and watching movies & TV shows in a VR cinema and not have to listen to people talking is perfect. Picked up a Quest 3 yesterday and i'm very impressed with the clarity and resolution. Those pancake lenses rock. Load up some 4k movies, make sure you have Bigscreen, and take a portable battery.

Yes I watched a movie last night in bed with a movie on and it was better quality then a projector. This device is definitely worth the money. It’s like 3 or 4 devices in one lol Gaming, Social, Work, and Movies

@@cosandreas9414 Jeah, this is my idea as well. So for mainly media consumtion, what is better? A Quest or a Rokid/Xreal glasses? Obviously they not in the same league, but still my question can be valid from a movie watching standpoint.

@@Tsancywait until AR glasses have 6dof by default. If you move your head slightly, the screen shakes with it (can be annoying for some). I'd say get a quest

i really want to know which way is going to give me the best quality, and will pcvr be better if i stream it, or link cable, vs quest 3 having the movie loaded on to the device.

Great video! I’m glad someone is talking about media consumption on the quest as it been as important to me as the games since the beginning. I love watching movies in my own personal cinema. 3D movies are particularly good in VR. You have to see it in the headset to appreciate it. Watching a movie on your phone in bed is relaxing, but nothing compared to watching a movie flat out with the screen above you. I’ve fallen asleep in the headset a few times like this.

So does the quest 3 do 4k video? If so does it do HDR/Dolby Vision? Also how is it with gaming non-SteamVR, specifically if you want to play either regular games on a virtual big TV or retro games. Lastly can you use something like an nvidia shield or fire stick to stream from or does it have to be from a PC? Or can you load Kodi and play it from there?

I can answer this. For pancake games i much prefer a normal screen. This is because of comfort and eye strain. It is totally usable of cource. And i often use the q3 for home office when i need multiple screens. But it is less comfortable.

Great and informative video. I’m new to VR and plan on getting the Quest 3 during a Black Friday sale. I travel for work and would love the cinema feature. However, I keep hearing you need a PC for certain features. Do you know if an iPad will work? I’m strictly iOS, so I’m concerned I’ll have to buy an expensive Windows PC. HELP!!

I don't know why, but I never used my Quest 2 for any media. Now that I have the Quest 3, I have been watching videos and using Bigscreen non-stop! I love it!

Worth mentioning, a lot of folks watch movies together in VRChat. Of course you are then limited to hosting your content, but if your focus is being more social than picture quality and selection than this is an interesting alternative.

KZfaq VR is broken for Quest 3 … quest 2 you can watch 4K 180°+….does not allow above 1080 in q3 as of the moment

Great video! Nice to see a video on using VR for media since I do it all the time. TBH, it's my main use of VR since there are not that many games that i am in to. I do hope Amazon and Netflix update their apps for mixed reality. The big question I have, where to get streaming 3D movies?? I watched Top Gun in 3D (didn't even know it existed) on Fandango and it was great except the screen in Fandango is too small and can't be resized.

Hi. I am a total newbie in this domain. I am not a gamer (although I harbour a secret desire for flight training apps). What I most certainly am is a solo Netflix, Prime/Paramount, Apple TV+, Disney+ content aficionado, which access through my LG smart TV or iPad. I am interested in using a VR set to enhance my viewing experience. My question is simple: which device/accessories/apps should I get? For me, media on the headset begins and ends with the 4xvr player, since it's the only one that can play back stereoscopic movies in full quality on the headset directly. All the other programs require re-encoding which loses detail versus the MVC original format on a 3D blu-ray.

The movie has no screen but the action is taking place all around you in VR and in some cases you can be part of the movie and interact with the characters and change the ending of the movie.

Prime video on quest 3 works great for me in its dedicated app, and bigscreen app. I havent yet tried it on the browser.

Cheap way to have battery the whole day... Use link cable and plug it to charger brick... Use Oculus link 6/6E WIFi to do all the PCVR stuff.

I was disappointed when watching movies on the quest 3. While the theater size perception was nice the clarity was lost on larger screens and hard to overlook when coming from a 4k qdoled tv or even a qled.

You missed the best option available... What about the "movies and chill" or any of the media worlds in VR chat? It literally has any media, movie or show you can imagine on any kind of screen you want. And its free! Confused as to why anyone would use anything else.

There is a tweek for this to improve clarity by adjusting a file in support folder... Yes you can get greater clarity to look like a 4k tv by doing that

I think it's important to point out that if media consumption is the only or most dominating use one may be considering for a Quest 3, then there are more portable and fully HD alternatives available: the so called "AR" glasses, _à la_ Xreal, Rokid, etc. If you already have a Samsung phone >= S10e, then it's an incredibly good choice (thanks to Samsung Dex), otherwise everything listed in this video could be achieved by also purchasing something like a Rokid Station.

This is mostly what I have been using my Quest 3 for tbh. Also, I found out I really enjoy reading books in VR too. I sideloaded Moon+ Reader and have been reading through manga and the Dune series in pass-through while I have a KZfaq/spotify window open

people can actually watch movies in this? bloody hell. How? if the screens too big all i can see is the circles in the headset as in the field of view you now? which is distracting. then if you make it smaller its too small ( literally to see the whole screen of a movie its as small as just using a monitor or something/. am i using it wrong or what here??? or am i not suppose to have full view without seeing the edge of the circles eye peice? i dont notice i games at all but movies i guess since ur just watching and obsering rather than immersed its not the same???

they really aren't good, you can hold your head up for hours gaming or at a tv, but the moment you try and watch in br all you wanr to too slouch or lay as it starts feeling way too uncomfortable for no reasom

I don’t know if it’s just me, or if I’m actually surprised in myself (since I used to be very anti-social until about a year ago, started making friends outside of graduation) but I had a very strange time watching this video. Something felt off the entire time. I guess I’m just surprised in myself because I always thought I was bad at reading people, or studying others socially, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this video felt very… artificial. Yeah. Halfway into the video, it dawned on me that this video of this person (you) that I’ve been watching speaking to me this entire time, doesn’t exist. It’s deepfake plastered over a pre-recorded clip that has little or nothing to do with the script.
