For some reason every song that I think of covering, you have great walkthroughs on. Cheers from India man!

Haha mate that's sick! We clearly have the same taste in music! What else have you been listening to man? Alex

Luke was one of my tutors at uni. Aside from being a seriously sweet and humble guy, his drumming was second to none. Honestly never seen playing like it. Killing it with the lessons my man

Ah man, that's so sick! Where did you go to uni? Yeah man, his playing is so good! So much control and interesting phrasing. The Cinematic Orchestra were the first band I ever listened to with any kind of jazz influence. Thanks for checking out the videos mate, stoked to have you over here!

@@DrumHubTuition I went to BIMM in manchester. Got very mixed feelings about the place, but Luke was definitely a stand out highlight. He is such a lovely guy, like I was walking through Piccadilly station and he ran through half the station just to catch up and talk to me to see how i was doing. Saw him play a couple of pub gigs in Deansgate aswel and he is flawless no matter what setting hes in. Thats probably where my name dropping begins and ends, but yeah hes truly a class act

Sick man! Ah I can imagine dude, I've only seen him play big venues with Cinematic but would love to see him play up close in a pub! I went to BIMM Bristol actually. Didn't rate it at all to be fair but if I had a tutor like Luke Flowers, I'm sure I would have been more hyped haha. You still in Manchester?

Mighty Duck any idea what he's working on these days? He's one of my favourite drummers and it seems like he kind of fell off the radar.
@StinsonTango4 жыл бұрын
@@DrumHubTuition hey man, sorry for the late reply! yeah man, i didnt rate it either. Managed to do pretty good with minimal effort because the curriculum was just thrown together last minute so you could just blag everything. You did have those small pockets of teachers who did care and Luke was one f them. he was a real gentleman, however the stuff he was playing at the time was so above our heads so it was hard to really soak it in haha. Yeah man, well i live in warrington which is 20 minutes outside Manchester, but my band is based in Manchester so i spend half of my weeks there usually! Are you playing with anyone at the moment (ignoring covid backdrop)?

Jesus Christ, are you seriously? That’s the song that made me want to learn drums. I had the chance to see them play it live once here in Poland. How is it possible you are posting videos of the tracks which have influenced me the most? Thanks for that mate, i’ve played it for years on my own way, now i can surely learn it properly with you :D (btw, i have reached you out in ur website regarding drum classes). You are a killer drummer as well, it’s just a matter of time til your name will get bigger and bigger mate.

Mate that's sick! That's amazing that this was the tune that got you into drumming! It was a big one for me too, in terms of playing in odd time- we clearly have very similar tastes haha. Yeah man, Luke Flowers is killer! He changes it up a bit live, with more stops etc but pretty sure the album version is singles for days! I dropped you a message about lessons yesterday dude, hope we can book something in! Speak soon, Alex

@@DrumHubTuition Actually i am in love with this song since it is released and i learned to play what you show in this video, BUT, where is the ride part? I can't learn the ride part and i would really appreciate if you would break down the ride part. Thanks!

Lukes my favorite drummer along with George Sluppick. How about a breakdown of Manu Katches solo on Joe Satrianis song If? One of that best drum recordings.

Love your video, you’ve broken down the groove perfectly for me to make a start on. Have you got any advice on approaching the rest of the song?
@DrumHubTuition3 жыл бұрын
Hey David! Thanks for your message, stoked you enjoyed the video! Yeah man, this was one of my early videos where my plan was to breakdown a beat from a song, but I guess (for the most part) they've become more of a song breakdown. Maybe I'll have to make a part 2 for this tune haha! But in short, for the next section you want to move over to the ride and play a snare accent on beat '3' and a buzz stroke on beat '5' every other bar (still counting in 7/8), and then it's a lot of 16th note phrasing between the bass drum and snare. Just experiment with it and see what you can come up with! Let me know how you get on! Alex 👊

@@DrumHubTuition Thanks for the insight Alex, i really appreciate it. I'll start chipping away at it soon as. Looking forward to seeing part 2 when you're ready :) Keep up the great work! David

Are we the same person? I've been wanting to learn this for like 6 years! Loving your song choices man, Luke Flowers is why I started drumming. Can you do Night of the Iguana of Motion? (which I believe was drumming by Daniel T Howard)
@DrumHubTuition4 жыл бұрын
Mate that's so sick that Luke Flowers was your influence to start playing drums! The Cinematic Orchestra were a big influence on me too but a bit later down the line! Hope the breakdown helps! Ah man, the drums are sick on that tune. Lots of interesting phrases on the hi-hat!
@kawabungadad89454 жыл бұрын
Drum Hub Yup it’s some 12/8 madness! That whole album is incredible - I honestly think it might be one of the most slept on jazz fusion records of all time. Every Day and Man With a Movie Camera were amazing too, then Swinscoe started taking a very different approach with ‘Ma Fleur’ which seemed like he was distancing himself from jazz - Time and Space has a beautiful shuffle groove though. (Comes in around 6 minutes)
