It’s no secret that this cast went into the pressure pot, like every other cast you see me make this one is no different, it goes straight into the pot for curing. Y’all need to calm your farm!

Sorry to be the killjoy but please google "degloving". That's what will happen to you if you keep handling a spinning chuck with gloves on, the moment your glove gets caught on something/anything you're on a one way trip to destination fucked. Again nobody likes to hear "urr you shouldn't be doing that" but I'm saying this because I'm a Queenslander too, I have my own lathe, hell we even look somewhat alike, I'm telling you this because you're just like me and I don't want bad shit to happen to you.

There are three channels I LOVE and get inspiration from: Zac Higgins, Jdrek, and YOU Ben! Keep up the good work. I have began creating and selling pieces from your inspirations. I use naked fusion and alumilite resins and have great results. I see you stabilized your wood with a homemade vacuum chamber, I just scored a brand new vacuum pump from a pawn shop for $15! I need to do the rest on the cheap too! I think some PVC pipe and some craftiness to add a window to the top cap will do just fine! Thank you again!

I love watching your finishing work on the eggs. I'm learning about the sanding and polishing, as the molds I've been using were matte finished ones, so more labor intensive. As a retired jeweler, I thought I understood sanding and polishing, but the resin is proving to be more challenging than gold and silver, which is surprising. Got through the white rouge, thinking I was about done, but after watching your videos, I can see how clear the finished product is SUPPOSED to be and I'm nowhere NEAR there yet! UUGGHHH!!! I'm soo looking forward to using smooth castings from now on, when possible. That will involve making my own silicone molds and brings me to a question for you. Why don't you have an egg mold instead of having to go through all that cured resin for your basic shaping of the egg? That's a lot of "stuff" to get through! I've read what some of the comments say about using the drill press and I'd already thought about the fact that the drill press isn't meant to keep turning so long, BUT...as I don't see buying a lathe, at LEAST until I determine an ongoing need for one, a drill press will have to do! My deceased husband was a bit of a hoarder, especially tool stuff and I thought I'd seen a box that SAID "drill press", so out to the garage I went to see. Sure enough, an unused cheapo drill press never removed from the original box for over 20 years...LOL... it will work just fine for what I need at the moment. Instead of a dowel (I hadn't seen your videos yet), I had glued the screw mechanism with the concave washer thing from a sanding disc to the base and the screw fit great in the drill press; the only wobble was just from my not getting the piece completely centered, but was really inconsequential. Thanks for your instructional videos. Now, I'm off to find one of those things you clean the sandpaper with... DANG, resin dust is annoyingly clingy to the sandpaper, huh? Looking forward to your next projects!

That's great! My question is this - do you use a special grind on your gouge to prevent chipping or is it the resin that isn't prone to chipping?
@BensWorx

Thanks Mate, no special grind, it’s more about technique, if you get a chip slow down and do light passes until the chip is gone, a chip will create more chips if you let it

Your videos are amazing and very inspiring. I am curious though, would it be possible to make a resin egg with a plush toy in it? Or would the resin destroy the "fur" while settling?
@BensWorx

Thanks Mate, I think the problem would be the amount of air that would be released by the toy

Ben's Worx Well that really is amazing! I mean like, absofreakinglutely top notch BADASSERY! What’s a good contact for you? Your GMail? I haven’t been active on SM platforms lately because I’m so busy, but I’m @ballisticimpressions on IG and I have a few questions regarding lathes. I’d like to start playing around with some ideas I have and your work is exceptional, so I figured no better person to ask IMO! Thanks bud 👊

I have a couple questions if you don't mind. When you placed it in the PVC chamber, were you applying a vacuum or pressure? And what was the liquid? I thought stabilizing resin went bad when it sat if mixed with its hardener. Edit: This turned out really nice. Subscribed.
