2 major logical errors here: 1) that exploding tank was clearly labeled CO2, an inert gas not flammable in any way at all. 2) it’s hard to tell but presumably that same CO2 tank was likely the carbon fiber/fiberglass type that’s lighter than the standard aluminum kind so the only real metallic/ferrous part would be the regulator. I know the plot needs things to happen but sheesh I wish writers would be more realistic & less Hollywood sometimes.

The explosion wasn’t from the CO2 but the “pure oxygen” in the room. The tank might’ve just cause the spark to happen from being a heavier object striking the metal wall

I’m very sure the reason it did this was because they’re in an alternate reality and I think it was explained in the movie but I think the laws of reality state that there can only be one of them in the universe, so that reality tries to kill them

Actually I think its more different physics. My theory is that when the station phased into the alternate reality it still had the energy of our universe and thus it's physics. but as it stayed in the other world our universe's energy began to dissipate and thus the energy and physics of the alternate universe began replacing our universe's physics onboard the station. Basicly what im saying is the wall which wasnt magnetic before as the physics of the parrel universe began to affect the station that wall became magnetic because it was made of a material that is naturally magnetic in the parrel universe

if I recall in the movie, the physics and stuff of the place they were at was 'reversed', or bizarro. So something that shouldn't be magnetic, was magnetic. Something that shouldn't explode, exploded.

The tape was alive and trying to kill him, not following the laws of physics. At one point in the movie there is literally a sentient limb moving by itself. This isn't a base scientific phenomenom happening to the station.

I think it wasn't the C02 gas that exploded, it was the gas canister that created a spark when hitting the wall which then ignited with the high concentration of oxygen in the room

A Highly trained scientist/space crew member experiencing abnormal magnetic issues that should never happen in a space shuttle : *Stares for a long time and doesn't get away from it or make extra effort to contact crew mates. Crew mates : *Constantly calling his name and not have the initiative to go and physically check on him. Also staring at the cctv monitor doing absolutely nothing.

There's a term that covers this phenomenon in media, I forget the exact name but basically we have to assume that people in these movies aren't from our version of earth/reality and haven't seen our stories. Otherwise as you said many of their actions are extra ridiculous. My favorite application of this is how in any zombie movie people seemingly have no concept of a zombie plague and make very stupid decisions like fighting zombies with their hands, naming them walkers, crawlers, shamblers ect. In out world if a zombie outbreak happened people would immediately recognize them as zombies and act accordingly.

I don't understand why they made the ferro fluid grab him like that. It's not sentient or anything, and the thing it seemed to be reacting to was the magnetic pull on the opposing wall. Why not have the ferro fluid be drawn to the other wall, and have him pinned by it, unable to escape, then the CO2 canister is pulled towards him. The way it ended up makes the whole thing less impactful because you're just wondering why the ferro fluid pulls him AWAY from the magnetic pull.

@@codedxxx except that inert gases release only pressure not flames. Especially CO2 which is pressurized in liquid form. It will actually freeze its surroundings.

@@codedxxx Not flammable boom though, I work with CO2 fire extinguishers, because they're public access on a wall they need to be extremely safe, so they're designed to be super tough and are also regularly tested for pressure safety. If one did in fact rupture you'd just get a sudden release of pressure that would potentially hurt someone next to it, but it would not explode with flames.
