My guess is the grinder component is made of ceramic. That's pretty standard and what my daily use hand grinder is made of, so it should hold up over time.

From the brief look in the video, it looks like the same size & shape as the ceramic part in the Kyocera hand grinder I have (or one of its many, less expensive, lookalikes).

My vote, too. Looking at bulk burrs for my own innovations, ceramic is the most prevalent material for cheap coffee grinders.

Honestly my first thought for this was for people with allergies! Often people who have allergies can’t get coffee either from shops or places that are unknown in terms of contamination status. Having a personal grinder with cups means that EVERYTHING can be uncontaminated. Most of the time anything such as a kettle that is used for hot water just uses hot water.

Tightened the bottom part of the grind size then backed it off 11 clicks grind was very decent. Getting ready to go on a 7 day road trip from Florida to Colorado via Texas. I'm pro-clock, but didn't realise until you mentioned the clocktroversy. I think your videos are shot broadly linearly and the clock is a nice confirmation of that. I'm anti-allinone though. I just don't think one piece of kit can do a good job at all the different parts of the coffee process. Several pieces of separate well made equipment for me please.

I'm partial to the original size aeropress because you can fit a small grinder inside it if you want to. Aeropress + Fellow Pismo with metal filter + tiny grinder. Cups never really seem to be the problem, at least for me. My every day water bottle is actually a coffee flask : )

@@TimBryan The Porlex mini will fit, but there's a lot of other similarly sized grinders. I don't use a mini grinder, but if I had to replace my current grinder, that's what I'd likely get. My current coffee grinder is a "HandGround" that I got via kickstarter. I used that pretty much daily at home, but it's not really travel friendly. I like having a manual grinder because they are quieter, and because it lets me still make. coffee if/when there's. power outage.

Had something like that several years ago. 2015 maybe... Made by Cafflano, called the Klassic. Took it around the west coats of the USA for a few weeks and it worked. Not the best grinder, but worked well enough. Steel filter was ok. I preferred using it with paper filters. Small Hario V60 filters fitted great and made clean up so much easier. Dual wall cup worked really nicely. Very happy with it. Still use it when travelling today. Bit more expensive than that one though.

I have this big wooden box grinder from the early oughts that my Mom picked up while visiting Germany. This was before hand grinders were readily available in the states. It's cheap loose with way too much play, BUT I just sit down and put the wooden box between my legs and crank and it works really fast and I can touch up the adjustment as I go. More people that complain about how hard hand grinding is need to try it sitting down with the device between your legs. That kit is really cute and a deal. The grinder even has a spring! I can only drink one cup a day so I am looking for the ideal way to do a loose coffee submerged in water type brew. Pour over just gets weak and acidy unless you have the ideal amounts. One cup doesn't work well with pour over. This makes me want to try brewing coffee one of my submerged tea brewing baskets: the open cup shaped kind you just dunk within your mug. I hate cleaning the french press. I wonder if you can dunk that filter in the cup while brewing.

I feel like the biggest issue with this is the possibility of a big difference in quality and reliability from unit to unit. I doubt the QC on these is incredibly thorough, so someone might end up getting one and seeing worse results due to manufacturing issues that vary between units, and the underpaid worker who was quality testing it understandably skipped or ignored any issues.

I was told specifically to bring "coffee beans, because we got a new machine", only to encounter a horrible Korean device targeted at making soy milk. It was able to grind the beans just fine, but not brew them beyond making a "blended coffee soup". There was no way to extract the beans between the grind and blend step.
