The girl was legal age in the state it happened. Ed did nothing wrong except for being "inappropriate". He died for nothing. RIP

Not only that, now it's tuning out that Ed was pretty much catfished... That person kept the conversations going with the intention that one day they can weaponize it. They had a boyfriend at that time who encouraged it... I know this won't bring Ed back but I do wish the people that hounded nim to his death would at least be called out😢

That's what upsets me here, the societal standard we've allowed to become normalized that demonizes normal human interactions to this extent. I'm 40 years old, I knew girls as young as 16 in the 90's who dated adult men, just because they had the option to do so. The laws were in place so that IF an abuse happened, the younger person had a legal means of recourse, they weren't in place with the intent that such pairings should never happen because they were inherently abusive. Look further back and the marriage age used to be younger when life expectancy was less. Ed didn't do anything wrong, and even if he had done something with her, that wouldn't have been wrong either, but the world has gone insane and the basic methods of forming relationships are breaking down. If younger people can't even talk to older people, let alone consider them dating options without being harassed into suicide, how are they meant to learn anything from them and continue society as it's always existed? One year away from the national legal age should not cause anyone to go and burn the world down.

@@fusionspace175 Well I don't know about all that. But what I do know is that this context shouldn't really matter. The person could have accused Ed for anything that is frowned upon by the society like trying to sell her illegal drugs or wanting to pull her into a KKK pampflet printing operatiomln idk... The thing is she's just posted shit on fckin Twitter appatently with the intention to Spark a Lynch mob from the very start. She didnt do anything that the system would require to actually make Ed face concequences. Filing a case against him would not be that flashy and probably would be denied. No that didnt happen, what happened was that in the year 2024 in a so called civilised part of the world a lynch mob formed that succeded in killing a man. This event should be in history books, that's how crazy it is but no one is speaking about it now! And here comes the really sick part... The system did not only do nothing to stop this, there were entities from the system that were a big part of the lynch mob. Where are those news reporters now? All these people have Ed's blood on their hands I believe it too. I'm really not about destabilisation, I AM a pacifist... But Id rather stand up for myself rather then live on my knees in fear of the mob. This system is failing.

@@fusionspace175 I know for sure it wouldn't have been a big deal in Denmark (my country) or most European countries. Americans have always been a bit more squeamish about sexuality. But this is something different from the usual squeamishness. These are misguided modern feminists and race baiters who create fake outrage over any slight controversy in order to gain clout and hurt their perceived enemies. All the people who piled on Ed seemed to already have a problem with him, NOT because he had a history of sexual harassment (he didn't), but because he was a little too white and male for them and he drew a successful comic depicting hiphop music and black culture which they considered to be "problematic". For that he had to be removed from the industry. But you're right. Men are getting terrified of even approaching women because of cases like this.

For me, CK was one of the few refreshing shows where I could listen to guys talk about comics in a positive and encouraging light. So much on KZfaq is just tearing everything down. Those guys really cared about comics and wanted to encourage the industry to improve. I can’t bring myself to watch the remaining episodes because I don’t want to feel like there’s none left to watch

Stumbled on your site and found your honesty and truth refreshing. As a comic supporter since the seventies, I've noticed how negative and at times toxic much of the comic coverage and community has become. I never met Ed, but l feel for your loss. Any time anyone takes their life, we are all diminished. Ed seemed like a real talent, touched a lot of people and made a difference. But the fact that you were so deeply affected speaks volumes about your compassion and humanity. I agree 100 percent about your comments. Maybe we have put too much money and time in an industry that is undeserving and in reality, much of the problem. Stay strong. Keep the spirit of Ed alive. Support a few key talents with whom you share real values. You have a lot of responsibility with your young family. Keep looking for the good and right in people. You and Ed, and his many readers, shared a special connection that is rare. Comics are a unique American art form, but lately, our country seems sick and lost. Keep up your messages, because you can inspire others. God bless your efforts and your growing family, brother.

He was overwhelmed by his emotions and the fears that his mind generated as a result. He acted hastily because at the time he believed there was no other way out. With time he would have regained his footing and continued. So I'm saddened by the fact he couldn't find help in his time of crisis.

In truth. Would people have become as passionate about this Evil without Ed's Tragedy? Some of us were BULLHORNING due to the injustice being dished out before we had time to examine the evidence. Its like I heard a smart young man say in summary. He said we no longer PROCESS information. PROCESS Ed was literally on the brink of such growth that he had earned and deserved. This guy LOVED this craft with a single minded dedication you are going to have a very hard time witnessing again. And the approach to the subject on the channel was like nothing some of us n ever saw before. Ed my boy. We Love You. I had not cried in years. They were and are not worth your life Ed. Blind virtue signaling Evil Speech. It is an Evil. Im sorry. Irresponsible.

I didn't even see the woke ones, I only saw the right wing nutters screaming about hellfire and hate. This is not about politics, it's about decency. Stop dehumanising people, people. Do we always need a villain? Maybe the stories we tell are too full of hard lines and need more shading.

This is about telling the truth, and you did

Agree with most of what you said. When these ridiculous allegations first aired, I thought the whole thing would blow over in a couple of days. All Ed had to do, was come out fighting, release a statement, refute the allegations, and then he/we could move on. Alas, nobody realised just how fragile this guy's mental health really was, and he just couldn't cope. The fact that other so-called 'commentators' joined in, piling on, blowing up the initial allegations into something else entirely, was probably predictable enough, but I'm not surprised Ed felt vaporised and that suicide was the only way out. Ed was just being Ed, he loves comics, loves art, loves encouraging an appreciation of the comics book medium in others... but because of the misplaced woke culture we live in, his entirely innocent conversation with this girl (in my opinion) was twisted by these people and used to batter him. Pure jealousy. Ed was an amazing talent, his body of work is up there with the best, and now we'll never know what else he might have produced. Everything he did struck gold, his video channel was just amazing, he was about to sell his latest creation for some megabucks, and there was a museum retrospective of his work about to open. So these wannabe comic book professionals, without an ounce of his talent, decided to end his career. Cancel culture at it's very worst and most destructive. They probably didn't break any laws or commit any crimes in attacking Ed, and might not have thought he'd commit suicide over their comments... but they really need to reflect on what they have done. This rush to judgement is poisonous in the extreme. I take great solace in the fact that these people will never work in the comic book industry again, or if they do, it'll be on the edges of the mainstream and they'll never be able to make a living from it. Yes, that's a bitter comment from me, and maybe I should also try to be better than this, but like you, I feel we've lost a generational talent whose best work was ahead of him.

I love(d) Ed and Cartoonist Kayfabe, and I feel your pain. But I'm so, so tired of hearing that undefinable word "woke" being splashed around. The fact that so many of right-wing culture warriors are now trying to use Ed's suicide as a weapon (people who never gave a single crap about Ed or his work before this) literally makes my stomach ache. I'm not saying you are doing that. I'm just tired of all the culture war crap. We lost a great man. Someone who had 30-40 more years of work ahead of him. RIP, Ed. You will always be remembered.

@@SCHOLESYTalk No. There is noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way the allegations were THE ONLY THING that "tipped him over the edge." You want proof...... Ok. If you were accused of talking to a 17 yr old (and you were 40 yrs old or whatever) along with the other allegations (which again, are just allegations) would YOU...make-a-suicide-note.....blaming the internet for you.....offing yourself? NO. YOU. WOULD. NOT. My point is.....ok, I'll put it this way, there have been people who have been falsely imprisoned...and years later when new evidence comes out or what have you, they are RELEASED...... Why did those people off themselves? See my point? Ed MUST have been going through...........Heaven only knows. Besides, the time from allegations popping up to him ending himself was SO SHORT!
