Hey Justin appreciate the shout out. When you first started listening to some Yes you commented quite a few times how much you enjoyed Jon's voice. You compared him to Sting at one point. It makes some sense that in the journey Jon and Chris would be just a given if that makes sense since they were always there. The addition of Steve, Rick and Alan over time would be more of a talking point as to how the sound and style of the band changed. Couldn't do that with Rush lol with the obvious debut album exception. I still kind of wish you would blow past Tales. I don't want you to get turned off enough not to get to Tormato...

Great point about what would be considered a classic song. Like you said, classic to who? There could be general consensus as to what is a classic song, but that would also mean that it would have to be a very popular song IMO.

Chris set a certain standard and established his position in the Yes sound starting with the 1st album. Steve is the 'new shiny object' for you. Keep in mind that Yes was selling out stadia in the mid 70s. Prog is an acquired taste BUT you must admit that Rush, Yes, Genesis, ELP, etc. sold a lot of tickets during their heyday. BTW- I stopped listening to top 40 radio when I was 14 when I discovered Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult, Zeppelin, Who, Yes, Zappa, etc.

Continue as you have been and be honest. F the haters. Also I have to tell you I recently saw them doing Starship Trooper and they had Alan AND Bill playing together live. 2 drummers, powerful like the Allman Bros. Bill was doing the funky electric drums, whatever, meanwhile Alan was on a groovy regular acoustic Ludwig kit.

I am devotee of Yes. I get why not everything they do is for everyone. Please listen to Gates of Delirium and please give an informed perspective of the bass work along with every other aspect of the song. I am a drummer but I think the composition and arrangement of the song regarding his bass execution is one of his best efforts. Thanks

I don't know if you have checked it out and I missed it, I would just like to see your reaction to the album Tormato. I think it is a great album. I know many who bash it and do not think so. They were experimenting with a lot of new equipment and sounds.

First of all, you can pretty much disregard most comments that have "greatest band to have ever graced the planet with their heavenly presence." This is all highly subjective. Therefore your mileage may vary. There IS no greatest band, nobody but you can decide that one for yourself. Case closed.
